I was looking at the catback on AM today and at such a great price its very attractive.

1 question though anyone with experiance know if this set up has a bad drone at high way?

Stock mid pipe w/ converters
3.73s im cruising around 2200-2400 rpm

Shouldnt be very noticeable with the factory h pipe..

I had a little drone with an off road h and shorties...when i went to longtubes and an off road h it went away

Look the combo up on Youtube! There are countless videos of Mustang exhaust setups. Find your favorite.

I have the same cat back, 3.73's and have driven it with the stock pipe...it's pretty mellow with the cats in.

check youtube.

i will say this about the combo... my friend had an 01 GT with stock exhaust manifolds, an o/r h-pipe and the am-thun flowmasters, and it sounded awesome.

when i bought my car, the first thing i bought was the american thunder flows, it was WAY to quiet for my liking with stock manifolds and stock mid-pipe.

6 weeks later, I bought a set of bbk ceramic coated l/t's (from that same friend who ended up selling his car after he got out of the air force) and installed them with a bbk o/r x-pipe... it sounded BA, except for the rpm between 2500 and 32oo rpm... it was WAY to raspy... it sounded like it had an exhaust leak...

I ended up putting an o/r bbk h-pipe on instead of the x-pipe and it sounded amazing. no more popping and snapping. i mean it really sounded good... however, it still had that hollow sound of flows with a lot of drone around 2k and 2.5k rpm. It sounded good, but the same as almost every mustang around...

In the end, I have BBK ceramic coated L/T's, a BBK Catted X-Pipe, and Magnapacks. Its a different sound... it is loud but sounds good.

I ran the magnapacks with bbk lt's and the bbk o/r h and it sounded like a dump truck. That might be because i have a KB with 9+ psi at low rpm and the cylinder pressure may make the magnapacks sound like crap. The bbk catted x-pipe makes it sound amazing. Just my 2 cents. Again, check youtube.

I've never heard an exhaust I would consider to be loud through the stock cats.

I agree with Maxpowers.

Even SLP LM-1's are bearable with the stock H.

Flows have that good classic sound. They sound soooo sick with an offroad H.

^^^ Flowmasters with an O/R H are beastly. When I went to longtubes I switched to an X style midpipe. That being said, I am in the market for a shorty O/R H to get the bark back...

Flows w the stock H is tits!, match it with an off road X and you get the wet fart sounding crap on deceleration and between shifts.

That is exactly my experience with Flow's on my 2v's with different mid pipes/headers. Hated the x pipe with them.

Gears will really help the drone level when cruising. With 3.73-4.10's, you can basically take out the drone on most exhaust setups at 70mph.

I just replaced the rusty off/road X and Edelbrocks that came with my 02 when I bought it with this combo. I love the sound, but it's too dang quiet. I know I'll eventually end up changing the mufflers out. Maybe it's because the former combo was crazy loud, but this just seems too quiet.
