Flowmasters

Sound depends on the motor.

I had a relatively mild 351 in my 69 with some kind of turbo mufflers on there. After I built my 393 with aluminum heads, aggressive cam, etc, I hooked up the same exhaust system and it is twice as loud. Compression and cam profile and displacement make a huge difference in sound.

Anybody who says 40 series flows aren't loud probably has a fairly mild motor.

true, i had a worn out 302 that i swapped for my roller 5.0 recently. When we first started it, my mom leaned over and yelled in my ear "why is this thing so loud now?" im pretty sure exhaust noise doubled changing motors.

I want to change to LOUD exhaust. whats the loundest out there???? (and for all you old geezers who are anti-loud, it is cheaper than a stereo)

2 chamber are pretty loud. Probably one of the loudest legal mufflers. I don't think the 1 chamber race mufflers are street legal. I have my 2 chambers for sale it you are interested

Thanks to everyone for replying. It sounds as though a 2 chamber or 3 chamber delta flow 40 would be my best option. Although, i still havent heard much about the super 40 series, anybody know anything about them?

Well im definelty interested, and it sounds as though they wont be TOO loud with my milder motor. But im still not sure, i dont want anything that is too loud. And As i understand it, these are pretty friggin loud.

well this is quite odd. i have the 40 series flowmasters. 2 chambers. And i don't really think they are loud at all. maybe the way my exhaust is set up might make it different. But when i'm at idle..parked, it's really a deep sound to it. and it's not loud at all. lol strange :-|

Same here, I dont think they are loud. Then again everyone who drives with me says they are. I also noticed that with the windows up, you can hardly hear them. But since I have no AC, I have to drive with them down.

i have these glasspack things, they were a temp. "muffler" after i got my engine rebuild and trani and rear end i couldnt afford a exhaust system, and the way my engine is built they are freaking loud as heck, i am surprised i havent gotten pulled over yet, they set off car alarms and make old ladies run for cover, so i def. need to get my exhaust system lol
