Fluid Change

Yeah you got the fluids right. Don't forget to change your blinker fluid over to the purple stuff too, it works wonders!! Haha j/k man, you're just like me I got RP in everything. It's expensive, but I'm sold on it. My car is higher mileage than yours though. You may not want to change out your diff. fluid for another while like sgarlic stated.

I would change my diff fluid unless I had more than 30k miles. But it is not truly necessary till at least 60-100k or if you get water in it through the breather by submersion of the axle.

If your changing the diff. oil, dont forget to add the friction modifier. Im not sure if it is required with the use of RP but its recommended when using the motorcraft equivelent. I believe it comes in a 4 oz. bottle and you can get it over the counter at a ford dealer. 1 bottle per change. It keeps those clutches from burning up back there.

I wouldn't think on an '04 you'd need to change the rear-end fluid yet.
Bingo, unless you are just dying to do some maintenance or a pollutant has entered the housing.

Interesting thing about my motorcycle (shaft driven) is that they suggest changing the fluid at least twice before 2,000 miles.

^^^That sounds like a good reason. Another tip..... When filling the rear end have a jack underneath the passenger side of the axle so its angled with that side higher than the drivers side. This will allow you to get more fluid in there.

Ahh.. that makes sense about changing the diff. fluid.

How bout a coolant flush? Since you're doing brakes anyway, how bout a full synthetic brake fluid?

Well since the coolant is two years old now I was gonna change that anyway. As for synthetic brake fluid is there such a thing? What brand would be good? Cause I've only seen like DOT 3 or 4, etc....

Not to jack the thread but someone said Diff fluid at 60k and we all know the oil schedule but what about your tranny fluid? When should you be changing that? And is it different for an auto than a manual?

Since we're on the subject... When should a person flush their brake system?
