alright, i did a search and most people run mercon dexron 3 in their c4's. why doesnt anyone run type F fluid? its made specifically for older ford transmissions and does not have a slip agent in it like mercon does. im just wondering if it has something to do with the internals that are used when they are rebuilt or if people just use mercon because its readily available. thanks

Most people run the later fluids because the a [not yours in particular] transmission was rebuilt with new parts that are designed to run / lubricate with the lastest level of fluids. You could run Type-F. It probably wouldn't do any harm but I personally wouldn't want to try it.

Both of my C4's were rebuilt with TCI kits, and I have always run Type F or FA fluid. Got 265,000 miles of it on one car and 100 plus runs on the other.

I would use FA to start. Or ask BM or a trans company first.

alright, im using atf type F fluid. so yeah, i over filled it already. is there anyway of getting the fluid out without pulling the pan. ive got a filter kit and was going to change it at work this week. but its way overfull and im not driving it like that.
