FMS A/C Delete PITA

Installing my Ford Motorsports A/C delete tonight.

AC compressor, lines and condensor were all removed last fall, car has been in pieces since then...

I remove the HUGE ugly stock A/C bracket and remove the bolts for the pump. I get my new bracket in place and go to rotate the PS pump and the line rotates part way and then hits the pump housing. The directions (if you can call them that) included with this thing are an absolute joke. It's a lame ass picture with no steps listed and doesnt even show the line.

So now what? I did a few searches but seems like nobody else mentions this problem. Can I remove that fitting and rotate the line without having to bleed the system?

I'm not sure i understand the question. Are you having problems with the brackets or the line?

Thanks for the pic. Yours is pointed down, mine is pointed upward when the pump is rotated as in your pic.

My line is directed between the fill neck and the housing on the power steering pump. It's pointed straight up, I can't rotate it to the left or it hits the housing, to the right, it hits the fill neck. I can't bolt it up as is because the line is doubled back against the pulley and not long enough.

So are you cool then? Just unbolt the line and reposition it?


Are you cool with how the brackets bolt on? I got a pic of that too (sorta):

Look at that thick part between the head and pump as a reference on how to position the aluminum piece. Once you have that on right the metal piece only goes on one way. The straight lines represent the bolts.

Yep, the brackets are pretty straight forward. Those are great pics though.

My question is can I just unbolt that line fitting, remove it from the PS pump, rotate it 180 deg and bolt it back on with no ill effects? Will I need to bleed the system or anything?

I don't think it needs bleed because it's not a closed system...basically you just put the fluid in and turn the wheel a few times and refill as needed...i could be wrong but that's how i've always done it...i've never heard of bleeding power steering.

You should be cool just loosening it and rotating it. You might even be able to bend it enough to pass the filler neck and then just tighten it back down. When i did mine i had to replace the line because it had been spliced for some reason and was all hacked up.

On a side note, getting the line to thread into the rack is one of the most frustrating things i've ever done on a car.

i just slightly loosened and rotated mine when i did the relocate, no problems in almost a year, and it never leaked a drop when i did it, so i think you should be fine

edit: don't know if this helps, but here is a pic showing how mine sits....
