FMS lifters

how do these lifters perform? they should hold up fine with only .530 lift right?

i'm runnin .542 lift, no prob. afm says they can be good until 7200rpm

Mine are at about .600.

thanks guys. one of mine are ticking pretty badly and you can collapse it pretty easily

i orderd a new set of FMS from summit ($119) since i really didnt wanna spend 250+ for any other brand

Why not a stock replacement? Thats what i'm running with mine. For some reason I thought the fms are the same as the stockers?

also whats a good wieght oil to use to break these in with? someone recomended 20w50. will that be fine?

Why not get another one from a machine shop?

I roller lifters shouldent need any break in. just use the same oil you allways use.

130,000 miles on the stock ones and those are the only stock parts left on the valve train (FMS 1.72 roller rockers, FMS hardend pushrods, crane 2031 cam)

i know i coulda just replaced the bad one but if im pulling the lower intake i might as well do em all and do it right (like i shoulda did when i had it apart the 1st time )

Yeah roller lifters arent like Flat tappets. You dont need to break them in.

Are the FMS lifters the same as the FRPP ones? I got my FRPP from 50resto for $119. I'm running .530" lift with no problems.

arent you suppose to soak them in oil just to get the lube started in them. dont know for sure?

yeah, i also bought an oil pump primer from summit to get the oil flowing threw them before i start the car

all i read about them when i replaced mine was to grease them up good when you installed them so they hade some lube on first start up. I got mine from 5.0 resto and haven't had any problems i still have stock lift and everythign but with greasing before install worked fine. Yeah should have done that the first time. I think your car liked being a slow auto lol ever sinse the swap you've had issues

With 130K miles on the original set, I think it is a good idea to replace them.
