I have an LX that doesnt have fog lights and i was wondering if there is a way to make the dummy button in its place a functional button for other electronic hook ups? Thanks for your help

Not only will the GT headlight/foglight switch pop right in, the foglight switch is already set to be used. There are two leads in the foglight switch that are perfect for just about anything you could want it for. It is a simple open/closed circuit switch, so all you need to do is split a hot lead going to whatever you want to use it for, and connect one end to either lead and the other end to the other lead. Now you have a functional switch.

Sorry not true, the fog switch is there but it does have any of the internal guts in the switch, you have to get a gt switch.

No, the exterior of the switch is there, but there are no internal guts in an lx switch, ( no contact points ) :nice:

And he was saying that the GT switch is all ready to go and will pop right in -- nothing about the LX switch, unless I missed something...again?

Not that it's that important -- just wanted to make sure all thoughts on the subject were clear.

why the hell would they put a fake switch in?

My guess would be so they didnt have to change the whole dash switch layout on that side just because LX's didnt come with foglights. and it was probably cheaper using a non functional switch for the LX's, than to use the GT switch with all the internals when it wouldnt hook up to anything in the first place.

the lx switch is a fake, there is nothing in the fog light portion of the switch. the gt switch has got the parts of the switch inside to make it function. the wiring for fogs and everything else is there except the fogs and a working switch on an lx so they didn't have to make two harnesses for these cars... cool?

DVS, you are saying the same thing that Adam is. No one seems to think that the stock block-off plate of whatever it is, is functional. They are saying once that is removed, a real switch plugs right in. I have never seen what you are all talking about, and that is my interpretation of it from reading all your replies.

So recap: the block off plate dealie does not work, but it can be removed and a real switch installed. :D

sorry, re reading that post I realize that he was saying the same thing, my bad. I thought that they were sayin that once you take the stopper block out of an lx switch you can use it, which is true if you put in the gt switch guts to make it active ( which I have done ). sorry for the confusion :owned:
