Has anyone ever made a rear fold down seat in a coupe? I want to take that cross beam out behind the seat. I had a problem with the locks and alarm a couple times and had the trunk open charging the battery and had to crawl through the beams and scrapped myself up pretty bad. I want to have access to the trunk from the inside.

It's simple. Get a 94-04 back seat with the frame. Pull out your stock seat, fit the 94-04 seats and frame in there. Trim and fabricate what needs to be modified. Then cut those crossbraces out, and you now have a fold down back seat.

Those crossbraces are there for strength, but hatchbacks don't have them, and you still have the rear package tray there for strength. I'd think that a notchback with the cross brace missing is still stronger than a hacthback car.

If you want a folding back seat, install a 94-04 rear seat. It will fit with some mods. Then you can cut the rear bracing out.

The SN95 coupe doesn't have this bracing at all, still it would be a decent idea to install a rear shock tower brace even though the coupe will still be stiffer than a hatch even with the bracing cut

Rear shock tower brace wouldn't be a bad idea after those cross braces are gone. Honestly though, those cross braces aren't that strong. When you start on this project grab those bars and you can twist them all around and almost rip them out of the car yourself. They are just spot welded metal that is less than 1/8" thick, so they aren't too sturdy.

I'll bet the cross braces are most likely just to support the seatbacks. The hatch cars and newer cars have plastic panels in the seatbacks while the Fox coupes only have the foam, right?

Here are a couple of pics I saved when someone else did the same thing:

After running the car in my avatar last year we swap all the grey interior out for black. When we pull the rear seat out the cross bars where only held in by one spot weld. And the car at SFC on it.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just have an extra set of keys?
