i like the 5.0 and the triax... but have neither. Just driven a few cars which had one or the other.

yea. I know from what people say that every shifter is a big improvement over stock. But I want to get something quick thats not an annoyance.

If you can find one of the old Hurst shifter's they are great. Pro 5.0 is an amzing shifter, the MGW is too much money imo, and the tri-ax brings alot of complaints about noise and poor feel. I've never heard much good or bad about the B&M one and have never used one so I can't comment there.

I prefer a pro 5.0 over other shifters. I run a tri-ax with pro 5.0 handle in my 88 and I run a pro 5.0 with a tri-ax handle in my 96.

Of course Id like to buy new, but im on a budget, so whatever I can get away with buying used I will. I know the first is a comp plus, but what about the second?

I also found this one, which is perfect bc its got both the chrome handle, and the white ball. But I dont know if the shifter base is included, Im gonna email the seller.

My car has a MAC shifter in it and I havent tried anything else. Has anyone had the MAC and then changed. I personally dont like it because it doesnt go find third gear easy.

What does your MAC base look like? The shifter I just pulled out of my '93 had a black upper part, and an unmarked polished base.....guessing it was a MAC or equivalent. Replaced it with a Triax which is far superior........upgraded because I had previously owned a car with a Pro-5.0 shifter, and knew how good quality short shifter SHOULD feel, as opposed to the one that was in my car.

To Car Ramrod, I whole-heartedly endorse both the steeda triax, and pro-5.0......hear the mgw is nice too. Don't cheap out and get a lesser shifter than either of these three. You'll regret it if you do.

I have a Ripper and I've only missed a third like two-three times. I've learned if you try to put it into third by yourself, it will mess up.

BUT, I know now that all I have to do is push the shifter foward when going into third and it NEVER misses! Just let the spring align it.

I have a pro 5.0. Good for precise quick shifts, but a little short for my liking on a daily driven car.

Same here. My only gripe about it is how you have to lean to the right in the seat and really reach to shift it. No mechanical problems though. I'd be curious to see how ergonomic the MGW is.

i love my mgw shifter, i got the sport handle for my daily driver 5.0, i love it, it was 185 to my door, finish is perfect, great packaging, great customer service and it looks soooo nice

Ive owned a triax, pro50 and a bm. The pro 5.0 is worth the xtra money. The pro5.0 is even better with the hurst conversion.....flat stick and ball.

go for the pro 5.0. I went from stock to hurst to pro 5.0 and i love it.

The Hurst shifters you're looking at will be better than stock, but not even close to being as good as the Steeda, Pro 5.0. You asked for everyones opinions, so we're giving it to you. One thing to make sure is that it has stops on it (this prevents you from damaging your transmission shifter forks during hard shifts) I vote for the Steeda, it's a very nice shifter.

You can find any of them used without a ton of effort....and they don't really wear out.
If you just don't have the money, but want a short shifter, send me a PM. I've still got my MAC, or whatever it is laying around. I'll let you have it for a 6-pack.
