For those with 65-66 Stangs running modern 302s

Can you tell me what mounter mounts I need?

I bought my car from a guy who must have used the wrong motor mounts. The car originally came with a 1965 289 but he installed a modern 302. The motor is over toward the passenger side and the header is up against the shock tower. Also, with the engine misaligned, the stock fan is so far over that a shroud can't be put on. I also suspect the engine misalignment is the cause of some vibration at highway speeds. Can anyone tell me what mounts should be used?

hey man i have a 1966 with a 289 and i am about to drop in my 1990 302 converted to a 347. and i was told the mounts are the same. i also was told that the blocks them selves are the same except for a clutch mount for the older 3 and 4 speed trans. im not 100% so i will be looking for a more correct answer

If you loosen the one large on each side from under the engine, you can move the engine over to center by prying with a 2X4. The holes that the studs drop through are very large and allow for a lot of movement. There should be a couple of large diameter washers on them.

you use the mounts for the year of the car, 65 mustang, order 65 mustang mounts, 68 falcon, order 68 falcon mounts, etc. the engines bolt to the mount with no problem, but the chassis mounts are different from car to car, and sometimes from year to year.

Yes, but there are two types of V8 frame mount brackets for 1965. I found that the previous owner of my car used '65-70 repro frame mount brackets which is fine for a 1965 built after 11/65 but NOT for a Mustang built 2/65 like mine. They are totally different! Matter of fact there are no aftermarket frame mount brackets for a pre-11/65 Mustang! I had to get originals off of fleaBay. These suckers are cast iron. I'm having these put on Wednesday along with a proper T5 conversion tranny mount that the previous owner/idiot never used. This should solve my drivetrain misalignment problems.
