Regarding the engine tick problem with 99+ GT's, is it a constant ticking, or does it occur once in a while? I noticed when I got in my car today that there was a ticking noise that sounded like it was coming from the dash, but it was more like it was coming from behind it. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had a ticking sound that was very noticeable at 2500rpms. Ended up being something with the clutch. Ford swapped out the pressure plate, quadrant and something else (I forgot) and the noise went away.

BTW...I see you're from Cortlandt Manor. Got my only speeding ticket there back in 2001 in 30 years of driving. I wasn't even driving my stang but my wifes Infiniti G20t. I had a valid reason why, but did they want to hear it...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......So I paid. I hate Cortlandt Manor....LOL

I wasn't driving when I heard it. I was idling. I'm pretty sure it stopped once I got going, or I just couldn't hear it. It wasn't a very loud ticking.

I had the same problem at idling before Ford put a new tranny in. Does the noise go away when pressing down on the clutch pedal?

Ticking

I have a 2000 Mustang GT with 29,000 miles. It ticks only when it gets below 50 degrees outside..the dealership thought it was knocking so they did an "octane adjustment"..they basically detuned my engine now when it's hot outside my car feels sluggish..but when it's cold it feels faster..very weird. And that did not stop the ticking. Now I find myself trying to get a good performance tune..but no one in the Raleigh/Durham NC area does those on late model Mustangs
