Ford 8" Pinion Preload. . .

just a quick question. . .depending on where I look, the pinion preload for new bearings in a Ford 8" is:

- 6 to 7 in/lbs (in Yukon rebuild kit)
- 12 to 14 in/lbs (Drivetrain.com)
- 20 to 25 in/lbs (came with gears)

So. . .best people to ask are those who have rebuilt these. What is it?

Anyone? If it helps I checked my Haynes Manual.

Table of values: 17-23 Ft/lbs
2 pages later: 19-26 in/lbs

If it matters, I set the reading at about 15 in/lbs. Hard to gauge since the graduations aren't that small on the torque wench I borrowed. . .

Ok, well. . .axle installed, 100 mile break in complete. Nothing exploded, no horrible noises. . .I guess all is good?
