Ford Hot Rod Cams

I've gone through the write-up for the Hot Rod cams, and I'm confident in that. But when you start having to mess with cam phasers and springs and such, that's when I get a little worried. Either way though, I know a lot of us are fine with bolt-ons, but when you start talking internal stuff, they're going to want to take it somewhere. And if they do, they'll pay twice as much. Not saying the VSR cams aren't worth it, just giving the options.

I have Mutha thumpers stage II 's (just like the Hot cams ) and I down-loaded everything under the sun as well.... on how to do the install - then the task of finding / borrowing / and/or buying the tools ....which is a pain - yes you can re-sell or rent them - but as was mentioned - why mess w/internals - do what I did....I'm on first name basis w/my Ford service person/manager fleet - he knew all of the tech's - I had to be persistent - but he had (1) one guy who put cams in a few lightings and a few mustangs - who really did all of his major motor work - I kept after him - had to work with in his schedule - but he snuck it in the dealership on a Saturday - swapped them out and I paid him $500 cash - by the time you buy the tools - worry about the timing (I had lock-outs for the VCT ) ...and all that mickey mouse ho ha ....I felt better that it was done buy a professional - now I know there's pride in doing it yourself - and that's the only thing I've 'farmed' out - but I wouldn't take a chance on a car I bought new and have sank over $45K into....just saying....

I hear ya dude. With brenspeeds new detroit rocker cams they advertise they can install them for $395!! What a deal. Why would you buy the $250 tools and do it yourself? I really dont mind paying a pro if you can find that guy whom is really that good and trustworthy.

Sounds like a really great deal - I finally just got mt car running (2) two days ago - I have family in from Chicago - but at night I popped the Cold - air on - switched over to synthetic - then uploaded the tune - have Brenspeed do your 'tune' - I tell ya - the car runs awesome - Brenspeed Knows what they are doing - I may post a vid clip on U tuber ....when I get the chance - Good luck with your car - if the cams have that same 'lump' o that mine have - your gonna love it - the thing tears out like a knuckle dragging Gorilla chasing a banana........
