This week we got a letter from a law firm representing Ford and they are laying claim to the MustangExhaust.com domain because it includes Ford's trademark name "Mustang".

Obviously I'm not happy about this and will be contacting their lawyers to see if I can come to some arrangement with them so that I can keep the domain.

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up in case we end up having to move the site to another domain or something.

Ford is forcing me to give up the MustangExhaust.com domain - MustangExhaust.com Forums
:nonono: SMH @ Ford. This has happened before and the other site was forced to change names i think.

If you're selling products or linking to profitable products using the mustang name, then as has been discussed over the past few years you have to pay or change. If you aren't selling things or profiting off the brand then I feel for ya.

Yeah, I've seen this attack done on a few forums using the Ford name or names of their vehicles. It is a bit of a shame that this happens, especially on the forums because these are people that SUPPORT ford and enjoy their vehicles. None the less, the name is owned by ford and they do have to protect it. From the cases I've seen in the past, a reasonable agreement can be made.

if Ford allows anyone unauthorized use of the name Mustang, then the courts will eventually allow anyone to use the name Mustang...

the way the laws are written require a company or song writer or artist or whoever to go after EVERYONE that uses their names or whatever, or they will lose the rights to that name...it's got nothing to do with Ford being mean or not supporting enthusiasts or anything...
