I have just ordered the ford racing 90mm intake and programmer. I am curious if anyone has this kit or knows of anyone that is currently running this. I had originally planned to go C & L with SCT but I know the parts manager at our local ford dealer that also is an authorized ford racing dealer who got me a smoken price on the tuner kit. Also it looks to be the easiest kit to add a S/C to later on without having to ditch or refab parts.

I really hate to be the one to tell you this ?? but what your local parts manager didn't tell you was ? the Ford programmer or what they call the pro calibration tool consists of a basic 91 octane tune that is calibrated for only the 90mm intake and your factory gears..Unless you go with their drag package ?? you then have the option of selecting their 4.10 ring and pinion kit along with the gear installation kit, shorty headers and super short throw shifter in addition to the programmer and 90mm intake but other than that ? you don't have any other options.. there's also no end user adjustabilty meaning that you cannot adjust or change any of the tune settings and if you decide later on you want to add other mods like adding CMVC delete plates and especially a S/C ?? you'll have to purchase either an SCT X-CAL II custom tuner or a Diablosport Predator.. You would be much better off and much happier if you ordered the Ford racing 90mm. intake and SCT tuner from Steeda who Btw, designs the 90mm. intake for FordMATRIX4.6 said:

I installed the FRPP CAI on my car. My decision had a little more to do with keeping it "all Ford" than extreme total performance.I also do not plan on any other upgrades/power addres...I haven't been to a track in a few years now, but I wanted something to dress up under the hood more than that I needed that last little bit of hp. That being said, the kit has added power that can be felt right away. I'm sure that you'll be happy with it, I'm happy with mine.The actual tuning part took about 5-8 minutes, which was longer than I had expected, but which is probably normal. In Ford's tuning favor, I'm sure that they know more about how to tune this engine, albeit slightly conservatively, than most other companies. If you are serious about adding a supercharger, you will need a tuner for that modification...Until then,use it, and enjoy it .

You know that those parts are not "Ford" right? Ford Racing is just like any other parts company. Like Steeda or Shelby even. They are not owned by or operated by Ford Motor Company.
They manufacture and design very little of what they sell. It's not like they hide that fact though. Still, if you think you are buying all "Ford" parts you are not.
They grab other vendors gear or spec out OEM after market gear and put their stamp on it. They license the name "Ford Racing" and off they go.
The sponsership dollars from Ford Motor Company is about as close as they are to being "Ford".
I know it feels good to see that "Ford Racing" on there but you should get the best for your buck. The SCT2 is one of the best bang for buck tuners out there. The CnL is also a gnarly companion for that tuner. They go hand and hand really.
Just get some "Ford Racing" stickers and cover up the CnL stamp.

Don't feel to bad Matrix...Ford wouldn't sell it anymore if NOBODY bought their products...it's definitely not like it's junk...
Well I got it in today and another part of this thats pissing me off is now I have to register the part before they send out the Cal tool. Lame....but I guess for now it will work for me becuase I still have stock gears and wont be doing any more mods for a long while so when that time comes I will just buy an Xcal2
