I'm thinking of upgrading my stock axle back to something louder and a little more menacing. I like the Ford Racing M-5230-GTA, anyone know how much louder these will be than stock, will there be a noticeable difference? I listened to the sound clip linked off ninosport.com but the sound quality is pretty awful so I'm not sure.

Thay are louder than stock. I don't like the sound of those. I heard them on a few cars at the dealership when i was shopping. They sound alright, but there are many other muffler systems that sound better and cost the same. Flowmaster is my favorite. inexpensive considering other systems, and sound tough. look into them. you can find them from $279 - $299 pretty much anywhere. Brenspeed has a sale this week only. 5% off ALL exhaust systems.

I am currently running the stock mufflers with my Pypes O/R H pipe while Flowmaster sends me a new pass side muffler(baffles broke). It is louder than stock at all levels, sounds pretty decent at half throttle+ and is relatively quiet otherwise. That will cost you about $170. If you want all out rumble, do as I and several others on here have done...Pypes O/R H pipe and Flowmaster axle back...as bigcat says, "you will **** yourself"

And they say the S197s can't get the same(or close to)sound as the previous gens...My brother-in-law had a '97 with O/R H and 2 chamber Flows and it didn't sound much different than mine...My last GT('00) had Flows(all else was stock)and it was nowhere near as loud as this.

How hard would it be to install the O/R H pipe? I assume I'd have to lift the car.

Jack up the front(make sure you use jack stands) Un-bolt the stock and bolt on the new. No joke 30-45 min. You will need some long extensions to get to a couple of bolts though.
