Ford racing valve covers

Im looking into getting a set of Ford Racing tall valve covers, summit racing part#FMS-M-6582-E302P. I heard somewhere that in order for the intake manifold to clear the new valve covers you will need a intake manifold plenum spacer? is this true? thanks

I use a spacer to clear my Ford "Cobra" valve covers.Before the spacer,I took the throttle linkage bracket and notched the holes (Made them oval instead of round) and when re-installed,I just slid it up until the cables cleared the valve covers.
