I agree on the first part, but if the theory is that anything in front of the throttle body is a restriction and the throttle body needs to be a 90mm, i would think a 90mm pro m meter would be necessary.
By using a pro m and matching injectors you can at least make the car run right and tune it later. Using the cobra meter means you need the tuning before you even start it.
That engine will most likely run just fine on 30's considering it's NA.
At best it's going to make low 400's for rwhp.

I feel like some guys just make things complicated for no reason. 80 injectors and a cobra maf? Personally, i don't get it.
If you made 500rwhp on a vortech powered 302, you would still only need 42's and this NA engine is going to come up way short of that.

I don’t see how 80lb injectors are complicated. If you’re buying new injectors there’s literally no reason not to get 80s. 80s will idle like stock, and with an aftermarket block, a power added can be added down the line if he chooses and the injectors will suffice.

I believe he is keeping it NA , at 10.2:1 he doesn’t seem like a guy to want to play with higher comp boosted engine . 80 is just way to much . He’s keeping a stock ecu . 44s-60s would be fine

I made 425 with a trim blower and lightning 42s at the tire . I’ll be it makes 425-450 NA the way it comes .

I deff agree if he’s buying new I guess make it all match . 10mm on a NA engine I believe it will be Negligible either way .

I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree. I’ve tuned n/a 302 with 80lb injectors - running batch fire - and they were never too much, nor have they been on any car I’ve messed with.

It’s like how guys will buy 24lb injectors, then they’re not enough so they’ll go bigger, then they buy another set because those aren’t enough. People do the same with throttle bodies.

I’m not saying it won’t work , I have 120s on my own car .

I just don’t see him doing. A power adder , If he plans on it then I’m all for more injector .

Ditch the 44lb injectors and just get deka 80s…

Also, you plan on tuning with a quarterhorse?

I have a tuner out in Orange County who is very good. I plan to bounce my plan off of him prior to opening the wallet. I will be probably maintaining the stock computer with, obviously, a custom tune.

Just buy a starter and put a heat shield/blanket on it like this:

I use one on my race engine which has 2"-2 1/8" stepped long tubes with a stock Ford "mini" starter. Never had an issue.

I may just put a heat shield on whichever starter I buy. Easy insurance and the car isn't driven in the rain.

Exactly. I'm a Keep It Simple kind of guy. It will be NA only. I don't want to deal with fuel additives, methanol, etc, etc. We have 91 octane here in SoCal which is presently at $5.05/gallon (just wanted to throw that in there). I'll have the engine and trans installed and enjoy a reliable 435 or so hp with no hickups.

What are the two sensors on the lower intake? I believe one is a coolant sensor? I might as well buy new ones of those as well.

We did a car with 210s on a 5.3 that idles and drives great, but that’s damn near the limit of what works with high impedance stuff.

Really my whole point is to at if buying new, get a bigger injector than you think you’ll need. The 44lb ones he listed literally cost more than deka 80s. There’s 100% no real downside.

My fear is a stock chipped ecu with his setup . I don’t disagree with you at all

I feel like habu is saying he a wants quick, clean, reliable car on factory electronics.
But you guys are hearing, bigger better, faster custom, which is not what this type of engine is about. If that's what he really has in mind, he should just build it from the ground up, because 10 grand is not cheap.

I've considered buying this engine in the past (and sometime still do)
I'd keep more simple.
30's or 36's (i know 30's work, i've spent the last 20 years with guys including myself (well, mine wasn't custom, ford racing B347 shortblock) with custom NA 347's that all made well into the 400's.
RPMII (maybe a victor, but i think that gives up some low end), intake, 70mm TB, 80mm calibrate maf.
Then it would be slapped in and driven that way, on the stock computer.
Then if he wanted it tuned go from there.

Why I was shying away from big injectors he doesn’t want a stand alone

I figured that.

What i don't get though (and not directed at you), is the 90mm Throttle body.
I know i said earlier that i thought the meter should be bigger than the TB, which i do believe, but what i didn't say is that i really thought in this case that meter (pro m 80) was fine and the TB should be smaller.

How do you reckon the tb has to be smaller than the maf?

The 2 piece oil sending unit.. Is it just the stem (oil sending unit fitting) and the oil pressure sender?

Does it have to be? I'd guess no.
But what would be the point of a 90mm throttle body, sucking air through an 80mm mass air meter?
If you are buying the parts new and the engine actually needs enough air to justify a 90mm TB, why would anyone buy a maf smaller than that if anything in front of the throttle body is a restriction?
I'd say at least you buy the same size.

You can change the T-body size and never worry about the tune. The same can not be said about the MAF.
