I put my car into a shop due to a ticking that occured from nowhere and they have to look at it for free due to my 3 year warranty, neways he calls me today and says he thinks I'm going to need another new motor bc gasket sealat might have been sucked up on the oil pick up and starved the motor. He says the warranty doesn't cover it bc I used gasket sealant on the valve covers and your not supposed to. Does this sound bogus or what?

I just got off the phone with him again ad he said if he tears down the motor to check it out and see its a problem not covered by the warranty he is going to charge 1500. He said the motor is not gettin oil pressure and he is pretty sure that gasket sealant is stuck all over the oil pickup thus starving the engine... I don't no wat to do! I'm postitive it should be covered by the warranty but do u think that gasket sealant thing is possible?

and it is possible for that to happen I have heard bad stuff about to much sealant on valve covers and oil pan.

So..... the sealant went from the top of the head, through the oil return down to the oil pump without getting stuck and then managed to get into the oil pump and clog up the oil passage?
Messy way to tell if he's lying take off the V/C and start the car. IF you see oil shooting out of the pushrod (or rocker if they are rollers) than the dealership is selling you dog $h!t and you are buying it. Don't ever trust the dealership mechanics. They are very dishonest about 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time they are taking a break and having lunch.

Dealers screw you so bad it's ridiculous. my bro-inlaw is a mechanic at a ford dealer and let me tell you much free S h! T i get. oil filters, brake kleen, 327's and 355 ring and pinion brand new, all the gasket sealer, any fluids, gaskets, and bolts and everything else i ever need. This is as long as some poor smuck keeps bringing his 5.0 powered car there. They charge people for full bottles of everything even with they only use a squirt. my bro garage is filled with so much stuff cuz he doest waste it all and it just stock piles up after a while. it looks like a god damn parts store...he has been there like 8 years but hey...might as well not let it all go to waste right?

He is right about sealant on the VC's. Ford makes a reusable gasket that works nice. No sealant necessary. I bought 1 set and must have pulled my VC's off 5 or 6 times and no leaks ever

Im with those guys though. Pull your passenger side valve cover, stick a towel on top of the header, and let her rip. Hell do it at the dealership to prove hes full of *****, it'll take you 10 minutes to get the cover off.
I am with everyone else. Either get a second opinion or pull a valve cover and start it up.

I would take it to a couple more places but it cost a grip to tow it. What's the worse that could happen if I put too much sealant? Would it just be all over the pick up screen then can't I just wipe it off? Or do I need a new oil pump too? I don't mind just replacing the oil pump myself. But I do mind having to replace the block again or payin that 1500 bucks. Does anyone no how they check for oil pressure and what can cause it to not have any pressure all of a sudden?

Well i doubt that can even happen. If you seal the VC's they are usually tacky within an hour. I assume you waited at least that long before starting the motor. WHen they are dry, no splashing oil will dislodge that stuff unless you got it everywhere. Even then, it would have to travel down the passages in the head, into the block, down into the pan and block nearly all of the oil pan pickup. If it makes it through that, it will lodge in the filter.
Are you running a Fram filter? Maybe it fell apart at 5 miles as usual and blocked itself? WOuldn't be the first time
No I have a 10 buck mobile 1 filter. I'm thinking I want to tell them just to do the work. But then I'm tryin to think what other excuses thaey can come with to blame it on me. What do you guys think other than the vc trick? Is there any other way to chec for oil pressure?
Disconnect the oil pressure sender and install a gauge and test.
