It doesnt take that long for the stuff to start curing and taking the rubbery form. I highly doubt it could make its way to the oil pan and clog it. It would float i would think.
also you noted it was a tap, well lifters tap. If they claimed your engine is toast, like they bearings, the bottem end would most likely knock than tap.
Thats gotta be BS, theres no way in hell that sealant would clog up the pick up tube. They're totally bsing you. Keep your car away from them. They are trying to scam you.
It does take an awful lot of stuff to clog the screen. But the idea of it floats its wrong in an oiling system. It all flows down to the pan and either gets in the screen or the oil filter. Or heavy metal just stays in the pan. If you really over did it, it would squish and maybe break off. Only one way to find out man.
OK..i went over and talked to him in person today, and again he says if they do the teardown and find out its not covered by the warranty 1500 bucks, so i had him do a oil pressure test infront of me, and 0. So i said whatever ill tow it home. Just leave everything as is. Upper intake and VC were off. So he gives me the paper work and says he has to charge me for 7 hours of labor!! i spoke with the manager and i ended paying for 1 hour.
So i get home pull the motor and oil pan and guess what
a broken DS is not part of the warranty bc its the same one from the old motor. So im glad i did it myself or i woulda been out of some money right now lol.
the pump turns fine, how could this break like that?
Fatigue mostly, the shafts are inherantly weak. Especially if you are running a HV pump (either that or it twists like a pretzel). Also i've heard on some older rods with lots of miles suddenly switching to a much thicker oil
DO yourself a favor and get a hardned chrome moly one... it saves headaches in the future.
Oh yeah, and take the rod back to the tech who diagnosed your motor and tell him to shove his silicone up his a$$
ticking could be a blown header gasket or a loose rocker arm also. i say they're full of it.im sure you would have noticed a while ago if it was sealant clogging up your pick up screen because you probably wouldnt have a motor if you didnt have oil pressure.
grab a mechanical gauge and hook it up. if you're worried about starting the car, get the oil pump primer tool, hook up the gauge, make sure your drill is on reverse and let her spin. if you have pressure, the gauge will jump. make sure you mark your distributor or you will have to reset the timing.
