I took my car to the dealer b/c the a/c compressor pulley locked up and the belt is just slipping over it and it already shredded my factory saleen belt in half and i had to buy a new one to get the car to the dealership. So i take my car to BOB BELL FORD, where i bought it and the service writer told me that the a/c compressor is a saleen installed component and they cant do warranty work because it's a "saleen". I then tryed explaining to him that all mustang gts have the same thing on them and they still said it was a saleen installed component. What do they want me to do, drive to california from maryland and take my car to saleen to get it fixed, theyre nuts

That seems a bit silly.

Try taking it to another Ford dealer to get it fixed, as it is a FORD part.

Or try going back to Bob Bell, and talking to somebody "higher up".

The best part of your story is that you took it to the dealer you purchased it from. That has to be one of the most ridiculous claims by a dealer yet. That service writer needs his head examined and go get a job at a Toyota dealership.

HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER WHEN YOU DROP YOUR SALEEN OFF AT A DEALERSHIP OR ANY REPAIR SHOP FOR THAT MATTER.

CHECK YOU MILEAGE and write it down and make sure everyone within an earshot hears you. If you don't you car will be ripped on by anyone who can get their hands on it. It may anyway but they don't need to test drive your car after a A/C comressor replacement.

Amen Marcus! A friend of mine saw my Saleen at a light near the dealership and the tech did a burnout off the light. Service mgr said the car never left the lot, and my friend must have seen a different car. Funny, there are 3 BAB Saleen verts in NJ, the other 2 were home in their garages that day, and the car my friend saw JUST SO HAPPPENED to have the same special plate as my car :damnit:

I took my first Saleen to Bob Bell once to have a Saleen recall repair performed.
I got the car back a week later with 45 extra miles put on it when the service ticket had the note of "DO NOT Drive Off Lot."

I have never take another car there again for service. I instead use the family owned Lincoln-Mercury dealer in Annapolis. They even did Saleen warranty work on my 2000 S/C. That's the only place that has done any service on my 03 SA-20.

Now the bad news, got a letter last week telling me their dealership has been sold to the Rich Morton organization. Think they have a L/M dealership in Glen Burnie area. Don't know if the service quality will stay the same, but I would try the Annapolis dealership. I think they are now using the Rich Morton name.

My front nosepiece needs painting because the paint has spider webed. The 281 door instert on the passengers side is coming out. The rear spoiler has popped up where the 2 sided tape has come off of the car. The underneath of the wing has so many "fisheyes" on it Ray Charles must have been in the booth that day. The guy I bought the car from 4 months ago is working with Earl Tindol Ford here in NC supposedly to have it fixed. I am going to Earl Tindol next week and will keep you posted on what they say. My warranty runs out in a month and I do not want to hear any ish from them. BTW my car only has 11,000 miles on it.

Yea, I took my car in to drop it off for a major detailing and this kid comes out to give me an estimate, well he is eyeballing the car real hard and he says he will need it for the whole day. Just the way he was googleing the car, red flags were going up in my head and I got the vision from Ferris Buelers day off where they go sailing over the railroad tracks in the Ferrari.... I told him I would think about it. (not on your life was that kid driving my car)

Wait a sec if your car is still under warrenty, the dealer ship is supposed to repaint it for free and detail it too. Just what kind of benefits do you get when you own a Saleen. Also what would I need to do to get an extended warrenty. Would a blower swap cancel the warrenty??? Also how do a get like a authentic certificate, and any other paperwork that is supposed to come with a Saleen????? Thanks much!!! Jake

What I do is put a post-it note with the mileage written down on on the speedo cluster. However, the dealership is a last resort! It has only gone in once.

I have had problems with the dealer my car came from before as well. It needed the intercooler sender replaced, as well as the door decals replaced (peeling). However, the parts were mysteriously on "back-order" for 3 months, until I got fed up and just ordered them directly from saleen, who failed to mention any backorder. Needless to say, I have never gone back.

In a perfect world, yes the dealer should honor your 3/36 warranty just like any other Mustang GT. Saleen however sometimes does not warranty paint defects after 1 year. It all comes down to your dealerships relationship with Saleen and how well they work with them.
A blower swap would cancel your warranty Jake. There are always exceptions but they are few and far between. I'm an old man compared to most of you guys. Can you believe I remember the days in the 80's when any kind of warranty work with Saleen was done quickly and without problems? Part of it I'm sure is that I'm in So. Cal and my local Ford dealer ( Peyton Cramer Ford ) which is now gone had a great relationship with Saleen. At one time Saleen was headquartered in Long Beach, Calif about 10 min from my house. Those were the days.
Ford is not supposed to honor any extended warranty on any Saleen product. I know some people have been able to purchase them. Whether they have had to use it or not I'm unsure but I know I tried to purchase one for my 02-340 when I bought it and they said no. That was from Beverly Hills Ford incedentally.
Jake, you don't need any "authintic certificate" to receive service as all of your cars service history and purchase date info is in the Ford OASIS network system. If you did not receive any paperwork when you bought your car you can always call Liz at Team Saleen and order proof of authenticity.
