well they told me pisten slap. my question for them was why only in one cyl. head? they said it might get louder and start in the other side as well cause the car only has 8,000 miles. i showed them the tsb and the head replacement info, they said its not that. so i said how do you tell pisten slap from this problem on the tsb..........they said that the ticking from pisten's, the sound comes from the side of the cyl. head....and they said for the tsb on the bad head that the ticking sound comes from the top of the motor from the intake. what do you guys think about the locations from where the ticking is located is this bs or could this be true?

For one thing Piston slap usually accurs on startup. Pistons are cold and have shrunk, when they get heated they expand a little. The slapping noise should stop.

I would try a difference dealership. They sound like they are bull'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'ting you. Make sure when you say ticking from the head, you tell them it isnt the injectors.

Wish I could hear the sound. Ticking heads and pistons dont sound the same.

Try another dealership. The first dealer i went to about the ticking told me they couldn't do anything about and that Ford didn't issue a TSB for it.Well after my 7 month pregant wife cuused them out we went to another dealer and once they heard the ticking they got me a rental and sent me on my way. They fixed the problem and showed me the TSB when i came back later in the week to pick the stang up.

Recently, I've been hearing a ticking sound at about 2500rpm's and wonder if it's the same problem and I now have 31,000 on my 03 GT.

well, except for the fact that Ford put in a new tranny (tremec 3650) and it's still a little notchy, ( tremec says I have the upgraded model), the stang is running great.

I also bought it in Sept 02, so it is 18 months old. Unfort my daily commute is about 70 miles
