Fords two new cylinder heads?? anybody seen these yet?

The Z heads have been out for awhile. They had good flow #s and made good power on the test motor in one (or probably both) of the mags, 5.0 and MMFF. Tests were at least a year ago. Looks like those prices are per Each. AFRs are cheaper. AFRs also have smaller ports/runners and flow the same on the intake, and slightly less on the exhaust.

Either way, I'm sure if you put them on a nice motor w/ a good cam and intake, they'd make comparable power to the same combo w/ AFRs or TFS heads

Diversified Marketing has the Turbo Swirl heads for $699 a pair right now.

Thats a pretty decent price for an aluminum head. They don't seem to get the respect they deserve because they're the "second best" GT-40 aluminum head.....who wants second best? But really for that price you're taking about 50 lbs. off of your front end and adding a hell of a lot of power if the parts are matched.

According to your link, that is the "X" head not the "Y" head. The "X" heads are non-egr with bigger port volumes. My son has the 'X' heads on his GT. Also - both alum. GT-40 heads 'X' & 'Y', are called 'turbo-swirl'. The 'Z' head came out about 2 years ago.

From Ford Racing's online catalog for the X head:

GT-40X XTRA PERFORMANCE “TURBO-SWIRL” ALUMINUM CYLINDER HEADS

THE FAST, EASY WAY TO BOLT-ON 65 HORSEPOWER! TRUE BOLT-ON PERFORMANCE

For use on 289/302/351 Windsor-style engines

Improved air flow over original GT-40 aluminum heads

Intake flows approximately 240 cfm at .550" lift (at 28" of H20)

Exhaust flows approximately 170 cfm at .500" lift (at 28" of H20)

Machined for 1.94" Intake and 1.54" exhaust valve diameters

Unlike some aftermarket heads our GT-40 heads use either GT-40 or aftermarket performance: intake manifolds, headers, and valve covers.

Intake port volume 178cc, exhaust port volume 62cc

High temperature exhaust valve seats. Thick deck for improved sealing, increased section thickness in critical areas for porting, and webbed rocker bosses for improved strength. Designed for bolt-on rocker arms, machined for tapered seat spark plug or gasketed. Compatible with Ford Racing intakes, headers, and valve train components. Can be machined for diagonal exhaust header flange mounting.

High quality original equipment style 356-T6 aluminum castings, machining and components

Each aluminum head weighs approximately 22 lbs. – approximately 25 lbs. lighter than each cast iron GT-40 head.

These GT-40 style heads use AGSF-32C spark plugs

Each GT-40X head is leak tested prior to assembly

Head assembly consists of bare head M-6049-X302/X304 and GT-40 valve train kit M-6090-X302 featuring stainless steel valves. The valve springs are compatible with all Ford Racing roller camshafts. See page 99 for complete list of valve train components.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

Will not fit 1986 5.0L with flat-top pistons unless pistons are notched for valve relief

Must use head bolt kit M-6065-D289 to install cylinder heads on 289/302 blocks or head bolt and head gasket kit M-6051-A50 and intake gasket M-9439-A50/A51

Check rocker arm clearance to valve springs with production rocker arms

Check your intake manifold for port match, not all intakes are compatible due to the tall high-flow ports

Must use M-9439-A50 intake gasket
Comes in 64 and 58cc chamber sizes; and I'd swear it was set up with both the egr ports on the intake side, and the ports for the cross over air injection tube, but I could be mistaken. The description for the Y heads is identical but for part numbers, flows, etc.; both heads are footnoted as being for off-road use only.

how do you order stuff from diversified? I checked their website, but didn't see anything..

edit: got it, didn't know it was diversified product marketing. also didn't know it was so close to me. http://www.buyfordmotorsport.com/
They are not listed on their website. If you look in the latest issue of 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords magazine then you will see the ad for them.
The same ones Michael Yount is refering to.

Yeah. Thats a heck of a price I would say as well.

I believe the Z's are a serious race head, that come unassembled and in need of machine work.

I have a set of the gt40y heads, box stock they'll put out 275-285 rwhp hp numbers, with the right parts. I had the bowls cleanup up and a full valve job done, because my machine shop guy said the production valve job was a mess.
I got them from diversified, $724 to my door. BTW, they say take0ff, as in removed from a crate motor, but mine were new in the Original boxes.

The x's i've seen guys around 290-300 rwhp with the right matching parts. Problem is that they are now $500 bucks more than the y's.

At $1000 bucks the y's aren't really cost effective, but at $700 it's a whole different story.

I haven't had mine put on yet, since i've had them for a while and my budget has gotten a little larger and i wanted the exhaust ported to match the x's, but my machine guys doesn't want to do it, because supposidly there's not a whole lot of CNC programs out there for them.

Ya got me a pair too, brand new, mine aswell say "never fired" I'm pulling 272 & that's running lean @ that :spot:

my buddy can get some Xs with some bowl work, port work, a nice valve job w/ferrara valves, a nice set of springs, but w/some bad seals for around 900, how's that sound? think they'd be good for a car w/a 306, blower, track heat intake, and a cam we haven't decide on yet(due to the heads)

A set of heads with that mixture of parts sounds like they need to goto the machine shop for some checking and repair Probably in the end going to cost 200-300 bucks depending on exactly what's wrong with them. You've got to factor that into the cost.
I'm a fan of ford parts, but in all honestly i'd rather have a brand new set of x heads than a set that was put on someones car and got messed up.

Keep in mind the gt40x heads aren't an all out power head, they are more like a good street head that accepts all stock components. They are for More power, not Maximum power.
