Forged Pistons? Which are best and why? And Girdles!

I always think it is interesting seeing how many different engine builders using different style of pistons. I figure they are all about the same give or take... I went with the Probe Pistons 18.1 CC Dish I believe and Bored Out 30... They say Probe is the quietest and I see a lot of builders use them... Are main stud girdles worth it??? I am looking to go turbo and produce big numbers! I would like to hear peoples opinions and if they heard any bad things about Probe... Thanks!

Personally I would go with CP or Manley pistons if and when I build a new shortblock.

But what makes them better??? I know manley is in the 03/04 cobras if I am correct...

Zolner pistons are in the new cobras. I don't ask questions as to what makes em better I just ask what are the best

What makes them better though? I got my pistons and a windsor block that was bored out and honed and had the pistons installed with stock rods and crank for less than 600 shipped!!! That is why I went with Probe!!! The company then hooked me up with Forged H beam Rods with upgraded ARP2000 bolts... $301 shipped... Not sure the company but the price for all that was unbeatable... Anyone know of any bad experinces with probe pistons or those rods I got.. I dont know who makes em... I got em from the mustang depot in California they sell a lot of stuff on ebay...

probe is good too, no sweat
i think chp of Torrance is manufacturing them. They are priced really good too.
set of Mahle run around $1400 off ebay.

I dont know how much this will mean to you if any, but ive always heard there are two places you never cheap out on, Safety equipment, and High performance engines. I dont know about you but if Im going to build an engine that im going to turbocharge and expect a whole lotta power out of, then im going to spend the extra money, and do it right the first time. Anyway, do whatever your budget permits, and good luck to you, sounds like some great deals you got. Oh and by the way, I thought the new cobras came with Manley stuff inside?

Thanks to all so far on their input!!! But I thought billet was the only way to get the real crazy numbers... I am looking to get over 600rwhp though... So we shall see...

if you want 600rwhp get a 03 cobra longblock from the dealer, about $4100. then put on a kenne bell with a 2.5" pulley with 60lb injectors and exhaust of your choosing. boom theres 600+rwhp.

No offense to the kennebell or 03 cobs... But I dont like... I wanna keep it 2V... And I want turbo... But If I knew they were that cheap a while back... My route could have been very different!!!!

i would definitly go billet if you target over 650rwhp. do-able with a twin turbo or kB 2.2L.
Even if cobra 03 engines are forged, above 600rwhp I would be worried with the stock pistons/rods.

Also remember, going fast costs money...

Those HP Tiwn turbo guys are only forged though correct??? I dont think they went billet... And they are producing well over 700 rwhp I might be wrong though...

Ok... How much are the billet rods... If I can sell my h beam rods decent... I would buy billet rods will the probe pistons and cobra crank be good enough though???

Stick with the forged rods...Your pistons are good pistons but not good eough to put a set of billet rods behind them..
I made over 900rwhp with forged rods..Dont worry about it..We have alot of 600rwhp plus cars runnning forged rods....

CP is the best piston bar none if you want the best..

It will take the right setup to hit it,but yes.....Anyone can with the proper cam and head setup......
