When removing my rearend yesterday my buddy took off the drum on the passenger side. all of the insides fell apart all over the floor and the brake cylinder only had one rod that was barely sitting in its perch (not on the shoe). Has anyone else had something like this happen? Luckily my front cylinders are brand new and the car still stopped.

While I'm at it, can anyone recommend rear shocks? I am thinking about doing some 5 leaf springs in there eventually.

I dont know if it will help, but I have a drum rebuild kit I think for all 4 drums that I bought a couple years ago. Never used them because I went disc brakes all the way around. I think it has the springs and junk like that, I know it dosn't have the cylinders because I used them. I'm going out to my shop today and I can check it out a little better. I could let go of this stuff for the price of shipping if your interested.

Thanks but I took out the rear to replace with a versailles with disks so I wont be needing this rear anymore. I am going to keep the rear around for now (im trying to convince my buddy to help me build a dune buggy or something) because I have an entire 289 drivetrain. Hopefully the disks will make a huge improvement in performance but when I took the rear out I found a ton of other problems, mostly rust, and it will be a while until I get everything sorted out.
