How many of you use fox body springs? I've heard some say they use 4 cyl. front and cut V-8 springs on the back. How common is this and what are the advantages over lowering springs (eibach, etc.)? Weight transfer better? Why 4 cyl. springs?

I have Fox 4cyl fronts uncut. And Fox V8 rears cut 1/4 coil. I am installing them myself this saturday and will post before and after pics. There is a few advantages of these over buying lowering springs. First off is price...I got all 4 of my springs for under $100. Typical drop is 1.5 - 2 inches in front and 1-1.5 inches in back. The biggest advantage is weight transfer. Lowering springs are very tight springs and do not allow the weight to transfer to the rear. Fox springs are very loose and will allow the rear to squat and the front end come up. The only disadvantage to these springs is you can not handle as good if you went with a lowering spring. So you have to choose what you want...a good straight line performer, or a handler.

I see. So basically there's no free lunch: you get either weight transfer OR handling. I wonder how soft the handling becomes compared to stock. My understanding is that the stock springs are moderately soft -- I've heard that some people put the stock springs back on for the track. Obviously you also get the lowered stance with the fox springs (and price). If you get a 2" drop, I assume you also need CC plates? I'll be interested to see your pix.

They are softer than stock. With the front swaybar in place handling isnt much worse than stock. I am going to try and get away without CC plates but will end up most likely buying them. Watch saturday or sunday for pics.

Go with a good progressive rate spring and then adjustable shocks. Best of both worlds.
