Fox timing pointer work on our cars?

I need a new timing pointer to dial in the car and im not spending 60-90 buck on one.

since its the same engine will it line up or do i need a different pointer?

its just the water pump line up is different...

looks like it should work

I have used a stock SN-95 timing pointer with a fox timing cover...Now if it is off or not...I will never know...

the lower bolt holes are identical, it is just the upper part that the water pump bolts to are different.

Assuming so the timing pointer would be the same as well.

you can bolt it up then put #1 tdc on compression and mark the crank pulley.....if memory serves me it doesnt locate as it should otherwise

Yes put the #1 slug up top to know for sure ... tdc

They used to make tape with timing marks you could stick
on the hb ... don't know if it is around anymore

i believe my balancer is marked already, i replaced it with an after market one a few years back.

The issue is not if the hb is marked

The concern is the older fox pointer may not be the same as the 94-95

If that is so ... the marks on the hb could be off

If you run your #1 piston to the very top of the hole ............

That is a known fact that

You got top dead center

thus

You could mark the hb and that mark would represent ... TDC

I used a ford racing 5.0 Hb it came with a pointer and I used that worked fine for me.

Junkyard? How about the mustang junkyard online? You could email them and they will get one for like $5.

CJ Pony Parts - Ford Mustang Parts

Email them there and they will go in the salvage yard and get you one cheap!
