I actually haven't seen a period correct dealer-installed air conditioning system in quite some time now. A good picture of such a system would be gold as it would clearly show the appearance differences in factory AC vs dealer-installed air.

Nope. I can see enough. same compressor as this thread topic. The OE part number is not critical.

That picture above is dealer installed air (the hoses running across the top of the fan shroud give it away)
I used to work next to the guy who did all the dealer installed air conditioners and cruise controls
There are also differences in the control panel (a stick-on panel with a different A./C switch)

I see some Santech MT2140 kits on ebay. Looks like there is stock again. Scoop some up before they disappear as it's under $20.

It definitely includes 1985. Don't know for certain, but I think '84 was the same.

Looks like as far back as 1983.

1982 seems like a mixed year. Some compressors were made by York and some were the nippon-denso units.

They list the clutch as 1982

the manifolds are listed back to 1979. So who knows. My knowledge of pre-1986 cars is not that great i admit.
