Roush Fr. Swaybar, Hollow or Solid?

Is the Saleen front bar solid or hollow? If it is solid seems the Steeda Hollow bar of the same size would yield same handling characteristics while taking another 10-12 lbs off the front???


I'm on a weight saving kick right now, yanked the rear seat and running a Miata battery. So far these two have yielded me 50 lbs. Front seats are next.

I don’t know. I think Eibach makes the bar. Might want to check their web site out. Maybe they talk about their manufacturing techniques.

Are you lightening your car for road racing or drag? If you are doing it drag racing, why not just lose the bar altogether?

How much does a Miata battery weigh? I went with a 12 lb. Odyssey.

i am not a drag guy, road racing, hence my desire to keep a sway bar.

miata battery is a westco and a little heavier than the oddysey, it was 24lbs. friend had it in his garage for free. the motorcraft we pulled out was 38lbs.

a little more weight does not bother me though, in Chicago, i can use the juice when the winter comes. i used to own a Miata and it never had any issues, granted a smaller engine but for free i will try it. let you know in winter what happens.

Yes, you do need to consider the winters where you live. Not a concern here in Southern California.

The Miata battery’s 475 cold cranking amps should be sufficient to fire up your 4.6L. If the motor has trouble cranking fast enough in the bitter cold, you could beef up the battery cables to aid juice flow to the starter. But then that would add more weight. Oops.

weight is evil! i am not gonna go the stripper make it a racecar ugly route to lose weight.

but with some new front seats, already yanked rear seat, battery, i will be slightly over 100lbs removed, which is a noticable weight when you hit the turns.

Do you have a set of light weight wheels in addition to the Saleens?

Strip all the sound deadening material yet?

unfrotunately when my car was sold to me it didnt have the original wheels, but yes i am running lightweight 17x9's.

i am trying to maintain comfort at the expense of all out weight removal, hence i dont notice smaller battery, i don't have kids and never use the backseat, these things dont affect the comfort while removing weight.

actually i think the rear seat delete i built looks better than the seat, it came in about 9-10 lbs.

i've never had a flat in my life, so i am considering a can of fix-o-flat, but i know the day i do this, i will get a flat.

Also, there is a lot of weight to be ousted from your car and keep it driveable.

damn, i get it now. a little slow when i get to work after a weekend. well maybe steeda bar willl help then.

kirkey's are good for race but i still like road trips and live in downtown Chicago with potholes galore, so i plan on going with new seats but need a little more padding for my delicate rump.
