First, it's great to hear you have a running car.

I recommend an altenator from a 94-98 V6 Mustang, they are plentiful and cheap. Here's a place to get a wiring harness and new alternator cable since the old one will be too small. You can buy the parts separately but you don't save much, if any.

It states you need the red/green wire for it to work.

I have not bought anything from this guy yet, but I've read several of his posts on other forums and he seems very helpful and knowledgable, maybe people who have bought from him can vouch for or against doing business with him. Anyone?

Do you know if you can buy the set up at Autozone? I am moving soon, and I wanted to do this tomorrow if I can. It looks really easy.

Let's see, of the top of my head the Alt pn is DL7134-6-11, but don't quote me on that. I believe it is like 128.99 if you bring in a core... if they are newbs you might be able to bring in any ol' alt for the core... if not go to another one and bring the core back there where they will not know the part number. Just ask for an alt for a 95-95 mustang w/ 5.0. The voltage regulator socket I got from o'reillys for about 7$, you can use the smaller type female quick disconnect for the stator or pick up the connector at the ford dealership for like 7$.

as far as wiring... the red/grn wire should splice into same color wire on the VR harness. The white wire will go to the stator and the yellow will go to the B+ terminal on the alt. I ran 4ga wire from the B+ terminal to a plastic fuse holder my dad helped make, though you can get similar factory ones from the junkyard- forgot what uses the megafuse though. Then just ran from the other side of the fuse to the starter solonoid.

That should about do it me thinks...

No, what Mr. Swede is talking about is the plug to fit the back of the newer alt. You can just go to your Ford dealer and get the plug for 7 bucks. They are internally regulated.

Also if your going to spend that kind of money on an Alt, just call up Summit, and order a powermaster 100 amp unit. No core, no plug, and it will fit your factory brackets.

Hey HuKares I had that same thing happen to me when my last powermaster alt went bad, exept i lost MSD spark at about 9. I even turned my lights off as much as i could and stalled out about 10 blocks from home. I have a powermaster 140 1 wire and i am a DEF suporter. I have halogens, MSD 6T box MSD dist and for allmost a year i had a 1200 watt audiobahn system with 2 12's hooked up and the volts even while pounding HARD never went below 13.8!

I have to get one. I will make the engine bay look much better as well without all those wires.
