Front brake pad recommendations???

My brakes have been feeling a little mushy lately so i figure it's time to change the pads as they are almost worn all the way down and bleed the brakes.

I have the rear pads, but what is recommended for the front? I will be sticking with the stock rotors but looking for a nice pad that isn't too aggressive. I was debating EBC or Hawk but i was just going to do some parts store pads. Are the front rotors too soft for metallic pads? SHould i stick with organics?

I got the Duralast $20 pads at AutoZone, they sucked and I threw them away after about two weeks. Then I got the Duralast Gold ceramics for $40 at AutoZone and those are quite good. They have stainless backer sheets, bevelled edges, and a slot cut in the center. Very low dust, good braking.

Also, brake fluid is only good for 15-30k miles.

Wagner Thermo-quiet pads....
Don't make noise and they dont dust. Will cost you around $40.00.

I think $40 is a good price for front pads. I would probably not spend any more than $100 on them no matter what. You can get Hawks for $100.

personally i like the Hawk performance pads they grab real good but dust is an issue which i dont mind

i like my Hawk pads so far. only thing is they dust like a mofo. i would never put an autoparts pad on my car or any other loved one.

+1 for the Duralast golds. Very good pads without braking the bank.

Well how bad are we talking about dusting on the wheels? I clean my car almost every other weekend and the stock pads create quite a bit of dust so i'm always washing the wheels. We talking heavy dust?

I'm also considering just buiying the Mach 1 brake kit from buyfordracing.com. It's $310. I don't want to be cheap with brakes but if i'm gonna do hawk pads i might as well just do the 13" upgrade instead.

my pads dust very bad, but i have drilled/slotted rotors, which are also the culprit. after 2 weeks, my silver wheels will look gunmetal. i also constantly brake hard though

I have tried some quite a few pads and rotor combinations on my gt.

The duralast and Wearever Pads both suck imo.

The hawk pads are pretty good. But I recommend the Gran Sport GS5 or GS6 brake pads found on tirerack.com They are carbon-ceramic pads with very little dust and no noise like regular ceramics are.

I would not get an organic nor a semi mattalic pad. Organics will be eatten up too fast and the SM will eat ur rotors up as well as have high brake dust. Ceramics tend to be less dusty and some eat rotors up but sometime they are prone to squeaking even when good.

You said Ford, which is Motorcraft. You said nothing about "Genuine Ford Parts" which is the parts you are trying to say.
And if you look at the Motorcraft parts they all have the "Genuine Ford Parts" part numbers on them. And if your a "Ford parts counterman", then you sell Motorcraft also so take a look for yourself. Now up till the late 80's you are close to correct, but not now. Alot has changed over the last 10-12 years.

Genuine Ford Parts is a trade mark for Ford/Motorcraft.

It kind of like Delco vs AC Delco.
BTW I sell Motorcraft also and have for many years, and used to work for a Ford Dealer as a parts manager. Im still a partsman I just do wholesale now so I sell/stock alot of lines.
And Motorcraft isnt cheap by no means, yeah at a parts store(Me) it will be cheaper than the dealer(You). But the average person doesnt know about the difference in % mark up. Most parts store its around 25-35% were as the dealers are around 55-68%. And the different price sheets we use, green, yellow, orange, pink. and then there is list-price, but thats a whole different story.

Any other names you want to call me?

Funny if Ford OWNS Motorcraft why would they try to down sell to the motorcraft brand ???
I sell tons of Ford OEM brown box to fleets sales VS selling Motorcraft.
Motorcraft gave me pads to try and told be the where compable to brown box spec's.

So again, you say one thing I say another, Motorcraft comes to me and trys to push me to sell more of their brand.

Makes no sense is they are the SAME company is f you ask me..............

This topic is the BRAKE PAD line only, no other parts.

I found the Ford OEM brown and Motorcraft is low dust, SO why use cheaper auto shmucks brand pads ???

Yes, i have sold bendix, raybesto, wagner and God what else over the years.

Factory pads have less come backs so I stick with that.
