Can they be removed safely on a 90 5.0 w/o the use of coil spring compressors?I'm doing a complete rebuild, a frame bushings etc. Was wondering if I let the a frame down will it release enough pressure to remove the spring safely? Thanks.
yeah, you can let the lower control arm down with a jack after you take out the bolts....but make sure you chain the spring to the frame....they will kill you
You can remove them, but re-installing them without a spring compressor is another story. And do like ECU said and secure them to the A-arm somehow before popping them out of the perch, there is a lot of stored energy in a coil spring.
