my 91 is making noise up front only when turning the wheel moving really slow, crawling or stopped. when driving or moving along fine no noise. the noise is like crunching binding banging(best i can do).

this never did it until I put on the 17" wheels with the bigger 255/40 tires and they are stickier. maybe stressing something now? jacked it put a bar under the wheel no play in ball joint, side to side tight no play. tigh rods look good plenty of grease. struts arent that old. the car doesn't bang around over bumps either other the normal mustang ride. any thoughts.

id check if the tires are rubbing anywhere first ! which it sounds like you already have! next i would check the wheel bearings ! cause its only making the noise while going slow! when your moving fast your not hearing it because your going faster! there for they are spining faster and no noise is heard! if they get worse youll hear them at any speed! that would be my guess! lets us know how you make out and what the problem was! if this is not your problem im sure others will have some suggestions! I'm starting to think to myself now maybe my lower control arm bushings maybe? I don't think wheel bearings, doesn't make that sound and I've had that happen to me plus it was some what not has noisy before.

ok cool!!! its your car and you know whats up ! could very well be what you think! i was trying to give you more ideas! James was just thinking i had a car that did ! that does it do it when you go over bumps? if it does could be the front stabilizers !!

Thanks for the ideas, I'm going to pull the rotors and check the bearings also not a bad idea. It will make the noise if I'm not moving also at a dead stop cut the wheel left or right, that's why I thought more suspension. I put new stabilizer links on 3wks ago pas. side snapped off. maybe they need to be tighter? i pretty much cranked them on. I jacked both sides up full lock to lock no rub tires don't touch. I don't know how much is left under there to rule out. would the sway bar mounts themselves stress or make noise when truning the wheel while not moving and stress trying to turn this sticky tire?

The smaller tires and less grippier ones I had on before never gave me this, now these are wider and grippier and brought this out, maybe stressing a weak spot maybe not I don't know.

LOL well spending money on your stang is like spending money on your special person. The difference, your stang will always love you, with your special person that is not always the case! LOL
