I installed the new 9mm plug wires, base, cap, and rotor today, they are great, and easy to install with the numebers, but the wires seem to be about 3"-4" too long.

Any reason for this, maybe because they can go on the 5.8 also?

BTW, what is the purpose of the shortest wire about 9" long, it was left over, and I could not find a place for it.

same prob here, guessing they are long to accomodate in case they are used on a big block motor. the extra wire is for your 9th cylinder, you DIDNT forget it did you? :rlaugh:

I'm not for sure on this...but I think that "leftover" short wire is just another distributor/coil wire that is used on some models (possibly carbed?)...don't worry about that one...I just threw mine away...

On the length issue...I used the little spark plug wire holders (can't remember the name) and just laid them in the holders in certain places so they would stay together...I also pointed the boot of the spark plug wire (the end on the spark plug itself) upwards so it would hold the rest of the plug wire away from the heat of the heads/headers...

I don't know if any of that made sense...but good luck...just mess with with where your wires are going and find a place to "put" them out of the way of anything that can cause external or internal damage...I think I have a couple of my wires on my oil dipstick because they were "to long"...

Anyways...Good Luck :nice:

dont know about those wires specifically, but some plug wire are longer to accomodate different motors. and some kits have an extra coil wire for different applications (coils mounted elsewhere).

I bought 2 sets of Black Moroso wire plug wire dividers (holders) and they seem to do the job, I just snapped the 9mm in the same spots as I had the 8mm.

Worked out fine.

Mine seem to be the perfect length as well - but if you're not using looms of some type, that's probably the issue. The passenger side wires are designed to be long enough to run in front of the oil filler cap - if you ran behind it, then you've probably got lots of slack. Same on the a/c side - they run OVER the a/c suction/discharge lines. If you want to see a pic of them routed properly with looms, shoot me your email address and I'll forward one.
