FRPP adj clutch cable busted. where to get OEM?

i used to break clutch cables all the time. i had a worn out stocker that actually snapped the steel cable. i kept buying cheapy parts store crap. they would break where the plactic part is that sits on the bellhousing, where the little c lip holds the cable to the bell housing that plastic crap would break into pieces and ruin the cable.

i bought a FRPP adjustable cable and it has worked great for over a year and today it broke right where it did before, the plastic part at the bellhousing, where the little c-clip thing holds on to the cable it pulled apart there.

i thought these adjustable cables were pretty nice, it worked for a while but i guess they are crap like everyone says

now i am needing an OEM quality cable. i have a FWA also i will just use that setup.

where can i purchase an OEM cable, or would ford carry them?

Buyfordracing has them for about 50 bucks shipped as well.

Kinda strange that the cables keep breaking at the same spot, huh.

i guess the heat or something breaks them. i orded the one from MM i will try it out and hope for the best!

I've gone through 3 of the Ford cables in the past 3 years, the $50 ones from the heavy duty clutch upgrade kits. Two frayed by the quadrant and one had the cable collapse by the firewall. Might have something to do with the UPR quadrant, but I've had that for a good 7 or 8 years.

I just replaced the last one with the Maximum Motorsports cable this week, along with their quadrant and what a difference! The cable is so smooth it feels like a hydraulic foreign car clutch! Now I'll have to see how long it lasts. I used to get about 4 years out of the old Ford cables.

Includes all parts required to convert stock non-adjustable clutch cable to fully adjustable type.

This statement leads me to believe it's an adjustable cable.

Said it 1000 times and ill say it again. MM cables FTW. I just wished i hadnt gone through 3 other cables to find that out.

The cables from ford racing aren't as good as stock ford cables. They are adjustable but the quality of the insulation and materials make them more prone to breakage.

I've got nothing but good things to say about mine (FRPP adjustable). 2+ years of twin turbo heat and it's held up just fine.

thats the problem i have had with cables in the past. the actual cables are fine. just the insulation and plastic parts break due to heat and whatnot.

anyone got any ideas on something to wrap the new cable up with to help with heat problems?

You can get heat sheilding tape, summit has it along with probably any speed shop. The MM Universal ford cable is longer then the stock Fox cable, should be able to move it farther away from the exhaust.

will my FWA still be able to put tension on the longer MM uni cable to adjust it?

Yup. Worked perfectly fine with a UPR triple-hook quad and FWA on Frankenstang's Capri.

its been so long since i have messed with an oem style cable, i am assuming i am going to have to use the 2nd hook on my 2-hook quadrant (one closest to firewall) and then take up the slack with the FWA?

My MM firewall adjuster looks longer, like it has more threads then the no name one on my GT.

Yes, it worked fine with my UPR firewall adjuster, but the part that fit in the adjuster is a bit smaller than the opening in the adjuster. Also, the metal band for the mounting strap is a bit further down the cable. I was not able to mount the strap in the stock location and still haven't mounted it permanently. Any of you guys have a solution?
