Installed front springs last night. Was shocked to see AT LEAST a 1.5 inch drop, could be 1.625. All advertising I read said 1 1/8th for the front and 3/4 on the back. What drop has anyone else seen when they installed these springs on 94 or newer? Does this drop come back up slightly once camber and toe-in are set back to stock specs? Thanks.

Hmmm.....interesting. These are the springs I'm going to get for my 2002, and the reason I like 'em is for their supposed mild drop and ability to use the stock struts/shocks. :(

Paging BigConig...what drop did you end up getting with your b springs??

It surprised me that is for sure. My first clue something was up was when I could get my Jack out from under the car after lowering it down. Don't get me wrong, it looks great, but I was trying to avoid buying C/C plates. I will get them now. I would really like to hear from others who have installed these. If you are thinking about lowering, here is an interesting link:

Not trying to be a smart-ass, just trying to figure this out: are you sure they're B-springs? Maybe they're actually "F" springs (or whatever the ones that *really* drop the car are)?

It's been known for companies to send the wrong item, and even (I know you're shocked :D ) for Ford to screw up.

Are there part numbers on the springs?

Your not a Smart ass, its a good question. I bought them from Gene Evans Ford, and the sheet that came out of the Ford Racing box was for the "B" springs. The springs do have part numbers stamped on them, but I do not have the car with me right now. Apparently this is news to you guys.
Is it possible that the alignment will bring the drop back up some?> With the neg camber they have now and the top of the tire sort of turned in towards the top of the fender, I would think the car would raise slightly when you reset the camber and put the tire at a more upright stance . I know with 4X4's it doesn't take much negative camber at all to affect drop and fender gap.

Crud, that's who I was going to order them from!

did you measure the distance from the ground to the top of the fenderwell? If not, you should have because when I installed my c springs it dropped between 1.25 and 1.5 inches-and I have trouble getting my jack under there as well...but I definately know the drop was not as much as the h&r ss springs...btw if you really think you need new caster camber plates, save your money and get it aligned first-let the shop tell you if they could get the alignment back to factory specs.

Thanks for the info. Yes I measured to the top of the wheel well, fender lip. According to the link I found giving true drops on various springs, the H&R SS' give 1.75 and 1.60 respectively. I think once it is aligned, my drop will be just under 1.50.......but there does seem to be alot of neg camber. I can't see that there is enough movement available in the stock C/C plates to remove it, but I could be wrong. I plan on dropping the rear, then go to the shop. Thanks.

Please post back as soon as you find out if you need ccplates. I want these springs as they are supposed to drop between 1.25 and 1.50''s but i dont want them if its more and makes things more expensive. Thanks.

Also, can you order these online? How much are the springs?

Did you install just the fronts and leave the back springs stock?? If so you might have more of the weight transfering to the front now that it is dropped. That would make it sit a little lower than expected. When you drop the rear the front might actually go up a little. At least this is what I think based on physics, I could be totally wrong :D

Here is my 96 with B springs. isolators are in and no cut springs.
I am very happy with my choice.

MAN...its looks good in the front but i do not like the raked look :(

I'm really confused as to what the b,c,f springs are supposed to be rated at? Can someone give me more info on each specific lowered springs?

Morning guys, to answer another posts question, I am putting on the rear springs this morning, I ran out of time the other night after doing the front set. JohnP...thanks for the pics. My 98 is white as well, and it looks like mine will be as low as yours is although the pic is a little shadowy around the wheelwells. I am assuming you are running a stock diameter tire ie,@25.7 inches like a 245/45 or a 275/40. I e-mailed the guy who has this

link:http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/springs_calcs.htm

and this was his reply:
FRPP B & C springs have been around since the mid-1980's and were originally sold by Ford for use on 1979-1993 (Fox body) Mustangs.
The published drop figures you see on these springs refer to the drop you get on 1973-1993 cars. The 94+ cars are heavier than the 1973-1993 cars,
and their stock springs are different then those on the earlier cars. The result is more drop on the newer cars, as you have noticed.
If you search around vendor sites, you will see that some of them post two sets of drop figures for these springs. One for 1973-1993 and one for 1994-present cars. But many vendors are too lazy to do that, and all they give you are the 1973-1993 drop figures that come on Ford documents packaged with the springs when they were produced in the 80's.
By the way, the above does not apply to FRPP F & G springs. They were introduced after 1994, so the drop figures you see on them apply to the newer cars..

I am not sure I totally agree about how they are advertised, but the fact remains that this guy was correct on his tech sheet on the link, they drop 1.5 inches. Once I get everything dropped today, and try to get an alignment next week, I will get back to all if you are interested further.

Here are the details....front dropped from 1 3/8ths to 1 1/2 inches total. The drivers side was a little over 1 1/2 so I added a spacer to even it out. In fact it is a touch higher now, but that goes away as soon as you sit in the car. The back lowered about 1 1/8th inches. All in all, initial panic attack aside, I am happy now. It looks quite good. I am a little concerned now about C/C plates. I do have noticable negative camber based on the excessive(more than I originally wanted) drop encountered. The stock plates appear to have about 1/2 inch of space between the flange on the plates and the wall of the strut tower. If they are movable that far, then it MIGHT correct the amount of neg camber I have but it will be sooo close.

Thanks for the write-up...DEFINITELY let us know how the alignment goes. I too want the B-springs, but am leary about extra hassle.

Interestingly, the FRPP catalog lists the two lowering numbers, for the Foxes and for the SN95s. For SN95 Mustangs, according to Ford, the Bs are supposed to give a 1.125 drop in front/.75 in the rear. Hmmm...

JohnP, looks great...and I love the raked looked (that's what I'm hoping for with mine.) :nice:
