After some shopping around(most shops wanted about $750!), I installed the Hot Rods on my 05 GT yesterday myself. I am by no means a mechanic(the hardest I had ever done was a top end rebuild on a 2-stroke MX bike before this) and it took me and a friend about 6 hours from start to finish. I used a custom tune from Brenspeed and it runs strong, especially on the top end....and of course you can't beat that old school lope!

Right on. That's one thing I haven't gotten to yet. Dunno if I will this year, but I really really want to. My experience is pretty much all bolt-ons and wiring, but I've read through the install a couple times and am confident.

Good for you Tru! It takes guts to tear into your cars engine and change things out. Sounds really good too btw

Great job on the install! Glad to hear it went smoothly. LOVE the sound of a good cammed 3v!

Thanks guys! Yeah, I was a little nervous at first but we just took our time and made sure everything was right....the first timed I fired it up was music to my ears.

I bought the timing chain wedge from FordSpecialTools.com and that was the only special tool I needed. I did a lot of research and determined the valve spring compressor is not really necessary(and if you crank on that compressor too much you can actually push the valve down into the head)and I just used a thick shafted flat head screwdriver to pop the followers out. The service manual makes the install seem really difficult and intimidating but it's really not....like I said, just take your time.

I have no need for the wedge now and I would be happy to sell it if anyone is looking for one. I paid $112 for it including shipping(outrageous!), so just PM an offer.
