Hey well my stock pump died and i bought a ford racing high volume to put in its place. Wheni had the stocker off and before i put the new one on i compared them but they looked exactly the same. Whats the deal? Is there any real benefit?
since the pulley size remains the same and the outside is the same dimensions, I would guess that the inpeller inside is designed with either larger or a greater number of fins to push more coolant (or just a more efficient design). You'd have to tear it open to know for sure..anyone ever do that?
On the back of the pump the impellers should be different. High flow units will have two extra vanes on the impeller vs. the stock pump. On some units the shaft may be thicker which means a thicker/stronger bearing.
