The first picture is a picture my son took of me scraping, the second picture is Charles (buddy of mine) who plans on running True Street with his car. A special Thanks goes out to Charles for all the hard work he's been putting in which ranges from taping, scraping and also mixing paint...removing interior....He is also the guy who is responsable for me being able to get the Heater core/ac assembly out of the car without removing the dash!

The box on the left contains a large amount of the undercoating from my car. When its all scraped out, I'll stick this box on a scale to let you guys know just exactly what the undercoating weighted. Also just for those that maybe intereseted I removed the console armrest and that sucker weights 7-8 lbs!

Man, that would be tough painting that k and a arms when dropping in some tubular pieces would look sweet. I totally understand about the FS rules tho. I wish you luck, thats a tough class(for the pushrods,lol). Its all about the fun of racing tho, thats all that matters.

I started building a real street car, that fizzled and sold the car. Great progress and its looking great. I've got my own progress pics on my site, just doesn't seem like its getting done quick enough.

Yeah FS is rough, as with ALL the NMRA classes. I have been reading from the guys leaving, they dont race NMRA for fun anymore. Most race for the money and when the rules change and the winning stops, it drives people away!

I for one will ALWAYS race for fun. Now making a living at it would be cool, and Im sure mindsets change when your food is on the line, but I would never turn around and get out of it because I didnt win!

I know you'll have fun Jack, its a good time at the races and you meet some colorful and fun guys there!

I have a buddy in FS so that is one of the reasons I'm running. Plus It gave me a good excuse to get out there in the shop and clean/rebuild my stang. I've always been into drag racing mustangs, so this class falls right in there with what I want and have always wanted to do.
No I won't quit racing if I'm not winning, it is strickly for the fun, experience. Hopefully though with a well executed plan, I may even win a few rounds.

I removed over 67 pounds of deadener and extra padding, stuff on the floor etc from my car...

I've taken out over 100 lbs. with the sound deadening and rear seat delete. But gonna be puttin my subs and things back in soon... so prolly not too much of a reduction haha

Looks good Jack.. I used a small propane torch to losenten the sound deadners stuff. If it's a race car.. pull the door panels and remove the door bars.
Cool seeing the progress pic's..

how much do the door bars weight I wonder? I have a bathroom scale, that I'll be putting to good use with what I can, just for shets and giggles!

not to hi-jack, but that guy has one of those torque link things. are they useful at all? or do they just make the car shake like a mofo at idle?

Pretty damn heavy..lol I think each side was over 18lbs, then I saved another 6lbs or so with a manual door set-up.

I'll probably leave em in for now Rick, as I have a ton of other items to get done before Bradenton. But, after reynolds,...I'll be steady working my arse off to get this thing ready for the finalle at Bowling Green. I really want to come out swinging in 2007!!!.
