I have a custom grind fti cam. my question is .... when installing the cam does the fti custom grind cams have to be degreed in or can you just slap them in and go just like any other ford motorsport cam?

You should degree it per the cam card. If you dont you just wasted the money you paid for the custom cam. IMO all cams should be degreed when putting them in.

This is how I did it:

http://www.holley.com/data/TechService/Technical/How to Degree a Camshaft.pdf

From what I read and my own experience with a FTI cam, I usually always see that the cams are usually right on when installed dot to dot. It is always a good idea to degree it, but if he installed it dot to dot there is a great chance that it is 'degreed' already. If your bored one day you can tear it down and do it

ok thanks for the help.. I did install it dot to dot but after the fact i heard someone talking about degreeing a cam so i was looking to see what all was involved... As I've been reading it seems like degreeing a cam is more double checking the manufactures spec more than anything to make sure the dowel pin is drilled in the right spot etc....
