I am building my '88 5.0 and wanted to know what you guys think for additional parts. I have not started yet, but I have the Holley System Max kit, 70MM throttle body, Hooker long headers, Magnaflow cat back exhaust.

I have the stock transmission and I am not sure what stall torque converter to go with. Also, do you think I should go with bigger injectors?

The car will be used mainly for street use.

Shrink the 70 MM TB back to 65 MM or you'll loose some low end torque.

Plan on a Mass Air Conversion if you haven't already done so. Speed Density won't work with you planned mods unless you're super SD computer wizard. A Pro-M MAF would be a good idea, make surre it matches the injectors size you plan on using.

Use 19 LB injectors for up to 300-320 HP, 24 LB for more than 300 HP.

Some 3.73 or better gears are going to be needed. Check out a automatic 87-88 T-bird Turbo Coupe rear end and get disc brakes as part of the package.

Maybe someone who has some automatic experience can recommend a stall converter and trans shift kit.

I should have mentioned, CA car so I already has the MAF. I also have the Baer brake kit front and rear, so I don't need the T-Bird rear, but thanks for the heads up. I plan on going with 4:10's out back. I will probably stay with stock injectors for now, unless I decide to put a blower on the car. I will check with some other Mustang buddies about the stall converter. Any other ideas are appreciated.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi, I have 1989 coup 5.0 and I have the same setup and I would really recommend 3.55 or the 3.73 gears the reason is that i putt on the 2800 stall and the 4.10 gears and on the highway its not that bad going 70mph at 2,500 rpm but when you stomp on the gas and get around 125mph it down shifts becaus the rpm is so high that it thinks its time down shift like passing gear to me thats bad for highway use and expect repairs on your AOD. I also have a shift kit. Thanks Leonard

PS. I also put the 24# injectors with addjustable fuel regulatore it works real good. remember that you have to have your mass air metter recalobrated for the 24#ers. thanks Leonard
