It's also a gas station issue. The newer pumps are designed to throw gas into the tank faster to get more customers through. Older gas stations using older pumps will suffer less because they're designed to fill slower.
on that one. I tried using the exact same gas pump with the 07 that I routinely used with my 96 Cobra. The gauge indicated that it was down to under 1/4 tank. The car took 7 gallons and no more. I ended up having to move to another pump to finish the fill up. Never had this problem with the 96 at the same pump.So you already had TSB 05-4-8 performed in 05. NOW, you take it in and after 5 days and a 20 mile joy ride (check the in/out mileage on the order 7211 IN - 7231 OUT. Come on.. They didn't drive that far in my GT when it had cracked control arms.. pfffttt WTF?) they tell you this is "normal"....
I find it difficult to swallow that the federal government with their tight hiney emission controls + vehicle warranty would accept this as being a "normal characteristic" for any vehicle.
You have two ways of handling this based on this affecting you only or this affecting many consumers as well as the environment. 1. The grand pro-active butt kicking for the masses would be write Ford Corporate and send a copy of the work ticket, provide a copy complaint to the NHTSA
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/
as well as the EPA. 2. The proverbial "Just Me" approach will be to contact the GM of the dealership and ask he/she HOW is a vehicle that is spewing fuel and vapor emissions due to a faulty vapor venting system inside their ill-designed saddle tank a "normal characteristic"? Let the GM know that you would be interested to see how the federal emission warranty and laws would read their interpretation of this "normal characteristic".
Either way, hold tight and your fuel tank should be fixed in time. This will not fly - NO WAY.. Not on my watch. LOL
Yell if you need help. I have an arsenal of big words and lofty intellectual threats at your disposal.

It is obvious that no one has issued a formal complaint with the NHTSA. (There is no option under their database query for the 2005-2007 Mustang.)
Hit the link provided above and fill in the quick online complaint form. This will start the formal process which eventually ends with a Mandatory Recall Order issued to Ford.
I recommend each member who has taken their vehicle to have the Technical Service Bulletin performed do this.
Let me know if you guys need additional assistance with this problem.![]()

However, both the dealership and the Ford representative said that this is a normal characteristic for this vehicle and is not indicative of any problem with the car.
Oh no, you didn't?!? Let's see how long it takes for some knuckle-head to flame you for trying to cause more problems for Mother Ford!!!
Jfrayzier - that response from Ford is ridiculous! I cannot believe that they said that to you! Who has the cahones to get on the phone and say something like that? "Normal behaviour"? In which sick, fantasy-world is this "normal"?![]()
Come on "My Brother from a Different Mother".
I used to travel around with mom and dad sitting in the back of a Pinto.
This is an issue that needs to be resolved and the Complaint process is the only way it is going to happen.
I talked to a retired auto technician friend of mine. He said to feed the fuel slowly right from the beginning. Don't start out feeding it fast and then slow it down once the pump clicks off.

), and STROKE the vapor-hose, all the while whispering "Oo, take it baby. You know you want it. Oh, yes. You LIKE it!", I should be ok.A friend of mine just said that if I fill whilst wearing RED SHOES, turn the nozzle UPSIDE-DOWN, only fill at AMERIGAS gas-stations, never let the tank get below 27% full (there goes my trip to Vegas), and STROKE the vapor-hose, all the while whispering "Oo, take it baby. You know you want it. Oh, yes. You LIKE it!", I should be ok.
I'm off to find me some red shoes...

So if a group of people were to take 20 different make and model vehicles to the exact same gas station using the exact same pump as one of your Stangs usually has this problem and ALL the other cars fill fine with absolutely no problems will Ford still make that ridiculous statement, "Not being indicative of any problem with the car"???????? Are they setting themselves up for another "Firestone" incident??????
