So, went out to gas up the car tonight, then felt obligated to take a cruise downtown to see what university girls were wearing....
Anyway, coming from one main intersection turnoff to the main drag, a cop pulls up behind me, and I know immediately, since I'm not sporting rear plates, that I'm getting pulled over. I started to count down from 20 till when I saw the lights....14 seconds later, sure enough, cherry's come on, and I'm on the side of the road.
Cop walks up, young guy, and says "did you just move here with this thing?"
I say "No, having trouble with Emissions tests, cause I'll never pass"
Cop: "You straight piped?"
Me: "I've got no cats, an offroad H-pipe...pretty open, I had it in a higher gear so you wouldn't pull me over for noise...I don't even have a smog pump" (Don't ask why I gave it up so easy...I just did, risking thousands of dollars in fines)
Cop: " Just get some cat shells and you'll be fine, man, I used to have a 1990 GT mustang with straightpipes, and I had no problems with E-tests...what else you got done to this thing?"
Me: "....." (I listed EVERYTHING, even showed him the cool rear seat delete)
So we proceed to talk for about 20 minutes about my car, and his old foxbody, and he explains to me that he doesn't like to pull over nicely done domestics, and how he just hates imports with big exhausts...I offered him to take my stang for a ride with the new gears, but he declined, ever so modestly...
(Hey....a little brown nosing goes a long way...offering up your Mustang for a cop to try out is instant brownie points)
Cop: "Alright man, keep it steady, great looking car!!"
Me: "You too, keep those wheels down on the cruiser, will ya?"
End of story....the cops in Kingston, Ontario, just got a big thumbs up from me...
