Funny sound with O/R H pipe

First let me say this is NOT an exhaust leak. Does anyone here a ticking/clicking sound from where the H section of the pipe is when your car is under load, but at low rpms. Like if your in second gear and your at like 1500 rpms and you give it heavy throttle. Mine makes a ticking sound from where the H section is. Is this valvetrain chatter that is amplified since I don't have Cats anymore? I have triple checked it for exhaust leaks and I have even taken it to an exhaust shop and they put it on the lift and checked it and said its tighter than fort knox and there is no leaks. I have heard other people say they can hear a more pronounced ticking sound with offroad x and h pipes. Anyone experience this?

I think what you are talking about is the "echoing" from the empty pipe where that cats use to be. That is what I hear w/ mine anyway.

That's what I was hoping it was. I just don't want it to be something major that's broken. Because it has to be pretty loud to hear it easily over my o/r h-pipe and flowmasters. The exhaust itself sounds really good, but that ticking that goes with it sounds like crap. I don't know if you can hear it as well outside the car or if it's just echoing inside. I don't want to drive around with people saying " man, his car sounds like crap."

This is common with aftermarket H and X pipes. I even have this sound with my new catted H pipe. More than likely, it's just the exhaust valves opening and closing. A lighter gauge (thinner) mid-pipe coupled with the fact you have 2 fewer or no cats just amplifies the valvetrain noise.

It's really shouldn't be all that loud, though. I notice it, but my exhaust combo quickly drowns it out.

there are sometimes that I can't hardly hear it if I try, but especially if I am driving by something like a fence or guardrail for it to echo back off of, then I can hear it like crazy. I am glad to hear that this is common though. I was starting to think I was the only one with this sound. I won't worry about it if it's normal, I just didn't know.

^---- what he said. Its the sounds of the valves resonating within the pipes. With your stock H-pipie you dont hear it because the cats muffle the sounds, but when you switch over to an aftermarket O/R pipe, the sounds of all the internal workings of your engine are heard, especially where your pipe bends to go into the headers.
