In Montreal, it's crazzy 99.9, so help me out. Boycut at least Petro Canada and Shell Canada !! In Quebec we are still like slave here, we always have to pay more God damnit :nonono:

Thats what happens when you live in Quebec you pay more for gas but less for auto insurance. So what you going to do stop driving?

Unfortunately, boycotting specific places won't do any good. You would need to boycott ALL gas stations and not just specific ones.

Well I didn't use my car for 2 days, I walked for the most part. :D When I sell my daily driver and only have my Mustang to drive for a while I will go to work on bicycle or rollerblades when it's nice out. Get more into shape and save money at the same time.

I heard a rumor (hope it's far from true) that gas will be around 1.40 a liter this summer. If that's the case, my daily driver will be a diesel Jetta or any type of pickup truck converted to run on frying oil which will be free fill ups for me and people who follow me will sniff fries out of my exhaust pipes :D

I carpool to work everyday. I'm going to start biking and walking more too.

Problem with the prices goign up, the goverment pretends to be trying to help. But its in their best interest for the price to raise. Since they get a huge percentage of the gas prices, the higher the price the more tax they get :bang: . Remember, its not just companies like Esso that deserve our ire... its OPEC and even our own goverment!!

I don't think I could drive a car on french fry grease  .

I, m using premium gas and it sucks big time. I ll have to do a very quick trip to 7-iles on the north shore of quebec ( max 3 days ) very soon and drive for about 2000km. I wont take my stang for such a short trip so i ll rent a cavalier for 3 days for a total of 87$ and free km. I guess i ll be able to cover the renting fees with just the economy on gas

heh, well personally i like my petro here :) at least they wait 1 day after esso to raise their price, so i got to fill on the 87.9 monday. but yeah it sucks big them.... but we complain a lot about gas... but look at our european cousin... it's like 2.30$/liter... we still have it easy compare to them.... it's just damn time canada does something about ALL the petrol we have here and use it.... they just found massive amount of petrol in the golf near Anticosti island, there's tons up north under frozen ice and there's some in the prairie.... god damn... use it! and stop paying from the stupid opec

Just because we're paying less than they are, doesn't mean we should smile as we get violated at the pumps. :D

On March 21st the price of gas was going at 66.2 cents per liter. And now? The cheapest gas today is 86.7. Highest is 97.6! from 66.2 to 97.6! That is a jump of 31.4 cents, in 2 months!! All these were taken off reports at www.ottawagasprices.com.

Just in case you think I am, I'm not hollering at you specifically Drizz :D . I'm hollering at 3 people: The gas companies, OPEC, and our government (federal and provincial). Especially the latter, who pretend to be looking into it, but really are doing nothing. Why should they, they get a percentage! Everytime the damn gas prices goes up, its more money in their pocket! The system has a built in bribe!

Do any of you know how much of this gas tax was spent on roads? I got some statistics:
http://www.taxpayer.com/cuttaxes.htm

For those who want the short version, the goverment is only going to use 2.8% of this cash on actual roads!! The gas tax has effectively gone up 500% since 1985. GST is charged on the end result, making us pay the GST on the tax that's already there. Total rip off! Here is another report: http://www.taxpayer.com/Facts/GasTaxSpending&Revenues2002.pdf

We are totally getting :owned: at the pumps. Remember to tell this to the gas attendant "Don't use vaseline, I want to remember how hard you people SCREW me!"

Anyways, that's my rant, I feel better now. :D

Yup and the only real world way to fight this is: not pump gas... Well at least with the business I can declare 42 cents (I think 42? Accountant does the final crap) a km. So suddenly a trip to Burger King is a business trip, so is a trip to the mall to buy underwear. lol

It's Petro Canada and Shell Canada who controls for the most part the gas price in Canada. So if people stop bying from them they will have to lower it.

At least price came down of .1 here in Mtl
I'm almost glad to still have my focus today lol... naah !! :D

First of all, if you only stopped going to Petro Canada and Shell Canada, all that would do would hurt the merchants involved.

Secondly, all the gas companies are getting their fuel from the same source, as they share the refineries. That means while you are damaging one or two merchants, you aren't putting a dent in the oil companies themselves. Do you think they give a damn if you give a merchant a bloody nose? No!

Thirdly, if you simply boycott all stations for one day, do you think that makes any difference either? No! If you don't gas up on the 19th, that means you'll be filling up on the 18th and 20th.

Fourthly, this stuff is from a chain letter. When was the last time you saw anything intelligent or brilliant in a chain letter?

Last, but not least: http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_no_gas_may_19th.htm

What needs to be done is several things at once:
- Step up the pressure on ALL levels of government. Make it the number one issue. After all, they are taking a percentage of all of the gas prices. If you want government to do anything about it, you are going to have to fight with them.

- Reduce the amount of gas you normally use. I've actually cut my gas consumption down quite a bit. I plan on doing it further. If you drive to work, try to carpool, take the bus, walk/ride a bike, etc..

- make any effort a concerted one. Instead of say, one day to protest, make it a weekly thing.

I've actually been considering starting a website to get more people informed about the issues around this. A central place for everyone to start gathering leverage to use against oil companies/OPEC/government.

Somehow to govt. is in a win win situation, they want people to use alternative such as car pool/bus/train to reduce the amount of car on the roads and polution. and for those that dont want to they make money out of it, tax is in % so the higher they will bring the gas price, the more money they make.

Zoma: dont worry i dont take anything here personal ;) beside i know i feel the same as you. im just trying to also see the bright side.

Gas in Canada WILL probably get over a *****ING DOLLAR. It's a DAMN rip off. We need to boycut Petro Canada, Shell Canade and maybe too Esso so the damn price trops. This week price went from 89.4 to 99.9 ***** !!! :bang:

What about Irving!!! They are the stupid bastrds that control most of the gas in Canada!

Gas is crazy!!!
