Irving is large in Atlantic Canada and in the NEw England states. A family owned comapny that has a huge refinery in Saint John.(largest in eastern NA if I remember correctly) They own everything out here from farms, gas, car dealers, radio staions, pulp and paper, construction, etc(ex employee )

The irving business has placed in the top 100 richest people for the last 5 or 6 years now. last year he was 98th or 99th.

Never mind ! I think you don't undersand my point here. In a million of people, you are the only one that disagree with this.

Yeah? What million people? That's what I thought. You are just reading stuff off a chain letter, thinking that it is fact.

We're both on the same side here. I'm just showing you why that letter is not right. Hell, it told everyone to boycott the gas companies this week -- do you think that had *any* effect? Did you stop filling up this week? That's why a small style, simple boycott of specific merchants, doesn't work.

If you are going to disagree, great. Back it up with facts. Don't try to refute me with this "millions of people think you are wrong" crap.

Somehow to govt. is in a win win situation, they want people to use alternative such as car pool/bus/train to reduce the amount of car on the roads and polution. and for those that dont want to they make money out of it, tax is in % so the higher they will bring the gas price, the more money they make.

Zoma: dont worry i dont take anything here personal beside i know i feel the same as you. im just trying to also see the bright side.

The only big bright side, is that this has gotten enough attention that it could be a big election issue.

At the very least, they should spend all that tax money on the roads! Driving around in Quebec is like driving around on the moon, you've got potholes so big you can lose a truck in them .

Do tune-ups on your cars, new plugs, new O2 sensors, filters, etc... Save a few MPG anyway you can...

Yup and the only real world way to fight this is: not pump gas... Well at least with the business I can declare 42 cents (I think 42? Accountant does the final crap) a km. So suddenly a trip to Burger King is a business trip, so is a trip to the mall to buy underwear. lol

42 cents is to low, thier was a MP or MPP that used 75 cents/km. I used 45 cents / km last year but now that gas has gone insane I'm just raising my per km amount to reflect the higher gas prices I think about 80 cents should be about right for 2004 tax yr. I think that fair, and you bet I'm amking every trip a business trip! Screw em!

I have been out of there since the 19th of April. Long story will tel it to you sometime. I am back to work for my old boss on Rothesay Ave. Sad part is I make $2 an hour less, but bring home alomost $700 more a month due to not having to pay into RRSP's and a medical plan(that I never used)

This sucks though, not because of the price at pumps but everything else. Shipping charges will go up as well as everything else. Pretty soon fruits from california this winter will cost an arm and a leg to purchase...

I hate the Foocking gouvernement, their only ambition is to put taxes on everything, soon,we'll have to pay taxes on water, air, sun...
And, why senator exist?, why do the Queen have this old ****** to represent her here?

I don't know why, but other provinces are feeling pretty well without all these taxes? I'm wondering where all these taxes are goin?

awwwwwwwwww I'm tired.... hehe

Ever heard the song "taxman" by the Beatles? I feel like this economy is on a bubble just like "dot com" companies were in the 90's. I agree about the queen though, I feel like grinding her ugly face off of all my change. Vive le Quebec, we are the most taxed population in North America. I thought Charest was supposed to do something about this. If I see him in a familly reunion I will ask him WTF is up.

Like I always say... in Quebec, we are like slaves, everything is more expensive. it's in those times I wish Quebec was free ... so we can start all over without all those suckers puting all the **** on us.
