Gas mileage getting worse by the tank

The fuel pressure sensor hmmmm. I look into that, but it seems to be average for our cars to get around 190 to 230 miles out of a tank. Anyone else agree?

I was always happy enough getting over 200 miles on my tanks.

I get about 8 miles to the gallon in the city and about 22 miles to the gallon on the highway. I love it, if I want fuel economy I will drive my Civic.

I get a consistent 225-230 miles per tank. I think its gone down though since the 3.73's. Most likely due to the fact that i can't keep myself from doing some WOT run a few times a day I'm at 56k, so time to switch the plugs as well. That might help a bit

The one thing I have noticed with our cars is that the intown and highway have a good difference between the two. Most cars have a difference of maybe 5 miles to the gallon but our cars have a little bit larger of a jump. Kilgore milage is a prime example

Thats true. Mine is mixed right around 50/50. During the day its alot more stop and go, but at night when im heading home its usually a straight shot. Mostly between 55-70 mph, with a few city speed limits.

Something else I thought of..

If your fuel pressure sensor (on your fuel rail) is not reading properly, the PCM will increase the fuel pump duty cycle increasing pressure in your fuel rails, which causes your injectors to spray more fuel than they should. You can get a dealer or tuner to read the fuel pressure readings from the PCM using a scanning tool or OBDII datalogging tool. If this happens to be the case, simply replacing the sensor would fix the problem.

This I would have to say is improbable, because it would cause a change in emissions characteristics and would trip the CEL.

Its very likely your problem is only in the gas. If there was more fuel being dumped in than normal, you would get a CEL for bank 1 or bank 2 lean. If it was air filter related as mentioned, I doubt it would cause that kind of drop. I believe colder, or cooler in your case, temperatures and the supposed reformulated gas are to blame.

You're right. That would probably trip the check engine light.

yea im always around 190 - 220 per tank (without gears) no matter how conservatively i drive, but i ONLY do city driving.

Gas mileage really sucks. Depending where you are winter blends have an "anti-slush" solution among many other additives. Gas is funny these days.

I get very low mileage at this point but I have a 600 mile per tank, 18 gallon tank Mazda for my commuting.

Actually I did get a bank 2 lean code a few months ago. It went away on its own though, but the drop wasnt directly after that point.

yup winter gas and warming the car up longer before driving will hurt a bit... but those of us that drive in snow tend to get slightly better because our foots not in it as much as the summer time

if i get to about 230 on the trip and i'm not on E i start thinking that my gas gauge is messed up.... but on the freeway ive gotten 315 per tank... not bad..
