ok well i have a question that no one with gears has answered for me yet. how do the 4.10's pull on the freeway from say a 75-80 kick opposed to a car with 3.73's ? I like to play on the top and on the bottom so I want the best info before i decide. I have a friend with an 03gt 5-speed with some motive 3.90's that pulls strong 1st through 3rd but it kinda lays down after the shift to 4th. I have been outta town working for a good little while so my car is just sitting but when I get back I have to make a choice. I have done searches and everything and no one can answer the question for me. i know that there is someone on here with 4.10's and a buddy with stock or 3.73 gears that have ....... tied up so to speak on the freeway. what did you top out at with 4.10's? what about 3.73's?

4.10's are going to pull better period.

112 or so will be the top speed in 4th.

as for the 3.90's laying down I don't know quite way you mean as they will pull 4th much better than the stock 3.23's will.

there will always be a bit issue with the gear splits in the stock tranny though as it is a wide ratio. for example 4th to 5th is 1.00 to .67 for t-45 and .62 for 3650. you would have to have tons of power not to feal a lag there.

***RocketMan***

What is your top speed with the 4.10s? At the drag strip, I turn off the OD an finish in the high 90mph range. What would I tach coming through the quarter at ~100mph with 4.10s compared to 3.27s. I'm thinking about going with 3.90s, but I'm wondering how much lower my cruising rpm would be (probably just 100-200rpms right???) If 112mph really is the limit with 4.10s, I think I would really have a little more top end!

4.10's minimum for any auto, regardless of future FI plans.

Manuals are a toss up between 3.55 and 3.73 for me. Auto's I generally vote 4.10's but the gas mileage of 3.73 is better. On the other hand I am going 4.30's. Richmond makes the 3.90 gear. Motive makes all the frpp gears now. I have used motive gears several times and never had a problem.

With 4.10's you should be at 3220 at 60mph in 3rd gear, and 2254 at 60mph in OD for an automatic if you have the stock tire height.

4.10' cruising in OD. I've had 4.10's in my DD now for over 2 years. I wouldn't change a thing.
