Gear drive or Timing chain

I'm new to the forum but want to ask this question.Is anyone out there running
a gear drive instead of a timing chain and if so what kind or is this something to stay away from on the 5.0?This will be on a car that may see some drag time but is mostly a cruisin and show car and is stored during the winter.I need to change out the 2.73's to 3.73's before doing this if I'm gonna run at the track.I mainly want the whine for cruise nights and car shows as it's not really a performance booster and I certainly can't afford a blower just for the noise.
Hope this isn't the stupidest question or idea ever posted on here.

Well I think the main reason no one runs them is that they are heavier, more parasitic, and more expensive than a chain and gear set. You may lose a few hp with it.

Stay away from gear drive.

Use the chain drive, it helps to isolate the camshaft from crankshaft harmonics. Ideally a belt drive would be the best to use, but since this is a street car go with the chain. And there is no such thing as a stupid question as far as I'm concerned.
