When I had my 1998 GT convertible (5-speed), one of the most noticeable things I did to "wake it up" was to have 3.73's installed. I also had CAI, FM exhaust and a SCT programmer. It was quite different at that point than stock. I now have an automatic in my 06 GT vert and I am wondering if changing gears would make a similar type of experience. I just did CAI and SCT XCAL II and it is awesome. I am just wondering if gearing would also make a huge difference. Any thoughts here?

does the same for the 06 as your 98.i put ford 3.73 in my 06 automatic and made a huge differance.turns about 2100 rpm at 60 in overdrive.do it,you will be glad you did.

I had Ford 3.73s installed in my 2005 GT w/automatic and they get me running faster...

No noticeable gas mileage difference either...

Two steps up from the stock 3.31 does make a big difference!!!

i agree with these guys about gears but if it was my car i would go with 4.10 or even 4.30's

Since automatics shift automatically (DUH), installing a 4.10 or 4.30 would make the 1st gear almost non-existent.. If you manually shift your automatic from low to second to third to drive, you can get better benefits from having a 4.10 or 4.30 gear...

I supercharged so I went with the 3.73 gear selection...

Assume, blistering and tire frying exceleration w/ my automatic...

Need to dyno the system so that I get the best results next weekend...
